Although I'd suggest "worrying" as little as possible about macronutrients, if you must worry about something, it should be getting enough protein and fat in your diet. Those macronutrients are essential, whereas carbohydrate is not.

Having said that, carbohydrate is also not going to prevent you from losing weight, unless it causes you to exceed your maintenance calorie limit. Assuming you get sufficient protein and fats each day, the rest of your calories should be distributed to your personal preference. Some people feel better with CHO in their diets, some feel better limiting it and getting more fat/protein. Sustainability is more important here than an absolute number of grams of CHO.

I agree with the first reply, if you're counting calories, you don't have to watch carbs, but what I have done with counting calories is stayed away from "white" stuff (white bread, white pasta, white potatoes etc.) if it's white or made with white, don't bite! Smile I also try to get mostly veggies in my supper meals. So a serving a meat, half a cup of potatoe/pasta and alot of veggies. I try to not "drink" my calories away. I'll have an orange instead of orange juice. It's more filling that way. Basically, count calories but make the most of those calories. Eat foods that fill you up and less calories and try to eat balanced (a carb and a protein together) to keep you fuller longer.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: no, but you really do need to focus on eating quality food and a balanced diet. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and be sure to get enough protein. Try to avoid crappy processed foods.

For me I've found that I don't really have to watch my carbs, but when I'm eating better, I'm eating at least a few less carbs. I'm one of those people who would end up binging on carbs if I did a really low carb diet, so I try to just eat healthier and not worry as much about the carb content. I figure if this approach takes me a little longer that's okay because it's something I know I can stick with. Good luck!!
