Hi there all,

Of late I have been experiencing severe stitches (stomach cramps after eating) while trying to gym, particularly trying to jog on the treadmill.

My routine is that I have a bite to eat at about 4pm, and then gym for 40min or so from about 5:30pm or 6pm every day...which I thought would be enough time to allow for my food to digest somewhat before my gym session...however I am still experiencing this severe pain in my side while jogging. (I try to stay away from eating anything after gym because I don't like to eat after 7pm.)

Do you know how long before gym you should eat?....or have any tips on what I should do to prevent this pain? Any advice would be appreciated!!!

Many thanks!!!

Your stitches are possibly not related to eating. There are a myriad of possibilities and an equal number of things to try.

Check the Wikipedia page:

There are some good preventative options there. i rarely get them these days and when I do I just try breathing deeper and pressing on it. Seems to do the trick.

I eat about 15 min before I work out and then 15 min after... I go first thing in morning though. I have only had once where I got kinda sick feeling. Try just having a protein shake or eat less and lighter. I have 3/4 cup of cereal with sliced banana and a protein shake. Then when I am done, I have another protein shake and a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, or if it is later in the day a real meal. Good luck. You just need to play with it.

I gym early in the mornings. I take my phedra cut than I gym for an hour than I'll have my breakfast when I'm done Smile

Anyone using the Fitbit Flex or similar devices?
I have a bodymedia fit and love it. It really helps keep you motivated and focused. It does allow you to sync with a heart rate monitor, but I find it has been a good tool regardless.
