hi, I have a question: been on atkins since monday and lost 2.5 kilos but I have a hard time distinguishing carbs from net carbs. Are they the same? Because when I introduce what I ate in here it looks like a lot: 38 carbs! And on tkins.com they say we should substract the fiber but how do I know the fiber ???

Any packaged food will have it on the lable.
If not, what I do is google the nutrion of what ever food I'm looking for.
For this site you need to get into your settings and it will let you pick 6 things your interested in. One of those you can pick is net carbs. Thats what I did.
Your are right...subtract fiber from carbs = net carbs.

santoch,
The part you are looking at, you're right, only shows total carbs. You have to go to each particular day of your diet calendar to see the net carbs. There is a spot on here that you can have the site figure the net carbs for you daily, but you can only see it on a daily basis. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that. I would like to be able to see a snapshot or summary myself.
mbtubbs,
Welcome to the site. This is a great place to be for helping you reach your goals.

Olivia - you're absolutely right. on the R-side of the screen, you have to go into your 'My Diet" or "my account' settings and scroll down to the bottom...where you can choose sodium, fat, protein, net carbs, etc... to be watching. Then when you go to your DAILY log in area for your food, you will see what your net carbs are. At the bottom of each daily sheet is a pie chart as well, which helps to keep your percentages in the 5-7% Carbs, 20-25% Protein and 65-70% Fats.
But all in all, there is no OVERVIEW that also shows the net. Just on each individual day. Over time, you'll get so you know your aprox net veggie fiber grams, so you'll be able to trust that 30something is likely accurate..but you'd have to open that day to make sure.
Live, Love, Laugh ...make each day memorable and enjoy the journey.
The bar noted below, does not tell the entire story!

Even though fat doesn't count in Atkins, it can cause you to gain or not lose weight if you consume too much. Be careful of over eating this nutrient. ie: cream, cream cheese.
