Since I don't eat sugar, I've been using xylitol as a sweetener. Does it give anyone else diarrhea, or is it just me? Or maybe it's from something else. We're talking, almost poop-my-pants diarrhea. Not fun when you're out walking the dog. ack.

I've been using it for a month now.

It makes sense that a sweetener like xylitol would do that. When I first started using Truvia, I had a similar experience, but I must be used to it now.

Sugar alcohols are known to have a laxative effect, especially if you are consuming too much of it. If you're not consuming too much of it, I would consider using a different sweetener. If it's been a month and it still gives you explosive diarrhea, that's a problem.

DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

I would switch, based on my own experience with the product in the form of sugar free goofy gummy candies at disney park this summerWink. Felt very cleansed after!

I can't use any sweeteners without dire effects...I really suffer when I overdo it (more than a teaspoon).

I would try using raw honey instead for a while. Yes I know its not low carb. Another option is to sweeten using fruit. Apples (in cooked products), mango, etc...

Coconut, coconut cream/milk, heavy cream all add sweetness too.

I don't use sugars at all, incl. honey. I'm trying to get my insulin sensitivity under control, hence the xylitol. I tried stevia but ... ew. It's fine in tea but I don't like it in coffee.

I do Intermittent Fasting, LeanGains style, which means I eat during an 8hr window every day (noon to 8pm). I drink black coffee in the mornings before my fasting window opens, and it's tolerable. Not as enjoyable as with cream and xylitol, but tolerable. Maybe I'll just switch to black - it would save me a ton of $$.

I know how you feel. Artifical sweetners give me a pain literally. Sucralose (Splenda) gives me IBS symptons. Aspertame gives me a pain as well. Found out the other day Kraft has put sucralose in their lite miracle whip mayo. And found out as well the lite mayo from the local grocery store had it in it too. I was wondering why I had gas pains for a week. So, I threw out the Miracle whip and went back to the regular type one instead. I just have to watch the servings on it when I make tuna. My husband and I have been shopping at discount grocery stores and they had in the past lite hellmans which does not have artificial sweetners. Anyway it was $2.99 for a big jar. When I went to the local grocer on the way home, was shocked to see it was like $5.99!!!! Wow!!!

My diabetic husband often overeats products with ***itol ingredients and has the WORST frequent and highly odoriferous gaseous emanations. I nearly gag, sometimes every 5 minutes. I've finally convinced him to ration. That stuff is potent! (I mean the ***itols.)

Xylitol is POISONOUS to canines... it says so on their very own website; so I'm not sure how it could be much better for humans. Please go to the xylitol website and read up on this product.

have any of you tried agave nectar? It's natural and has a low glycemic index so it wont spike your blood sugar. No side effects for me.

I'd go to something super natural like Truvia or agave nectar. The also have Stevia which I think mixes in just a little bit of sugar in and that might help you adjust until your body is ready for the sweeteners.
