I would struggle with that too! Right now my nutritionist has me trying to do 112g of protein and 112g of carbs and I find even that difficult. According to her, my perfect pie chart would be 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fat.

Good luck!

Is there a reason why you're keeping your carbs so low? There are evil carbs, but that doesn't mean all carbs are evil!

As long as you consume fewer calories than your body requires, you can eat all the carbs you want and you'll still lose weight(or at least burn fat, high carbs does promote water retention).

Don't worry so much about carbs...worry mostly about calories and your nutrient macros second...assuming your goal is fat loss.

Limiting carbs will increase fat-burning, it's a fact.
You can still lose weight eating more carbs as long as you eat less than energy than you burn.
Whenever I attempt to drop my bodyfat percentage, I lower my carbs to 25%, and it works amazingly well.

I'm mathmatically challenged. I thought in a 1,200 calorie diet it was to be 150 carbs. What is a good #? I'm "insulin resistant". I've asked a few diabetics (which I'm not yet, gratefully) how many carbs is a low carb diet? No one could give me an answer, maybe I am wording it incorrectly. I have so much conflicting information I am becoming overwhelmed. Please help me before I give up.

Why not just focus on the types of foods that you want to be eating, rather than the macronutrient percentages?

My recommendation is to eat lots of fresh vegetables, lean meats, eggs and dairy. Eat moderate amounts of fresh fruit, whole grains, legumes, etc. (I'm sure I'm leaving things out.) Limit breads, sweet things, etc. Avoid processed and prepared foods. Take Michael Pollan's advice and don't eat anything that your great grandmother wouldn't recognize as food.

There are lots of different ratios for carbs/protein/fat & they're all good for different reasons. I think anything under 100g of nc is considered "low-carb," but even then there's no right or wrong level to be at. Atkins induction starts at 20g net carbs, but there are huge benefits even from restricting carbs to 100g daily, which is where I started when I switched to low-carb.

If you're borderline diabetic, then low-carb is probably a good way to go. Make sure you're using the food diary here & Edit Preferences to make sure Net Carbs & Sugar are checked. Even if restricting the Net Carbs is difficult, definitely try to get the Sugar lower. That will force you to gravitate toward more complex carbs like the ones found in veggies & whole grains.

Keep hanging around here & don't give up!

75 carbs is a high carb day for me! This is definitely do-able. You just have to make health subtitutions. Cut out 100% of all white stuff from your diet (bread, pasta, potatoes, sugar etc.), instead consume few/limited whole grain products high fiber whole wheat lavash or tortilla for a wrap rather than a sandwich. Add in more green veggies which are low in carbs, stick to low sugar fruits like berries over more sugary ones. And remember veggies are usually better than fruits. Meat usually has zero or a couple carbs (if processed or highly seasoned) so they are fair game, plus fat decreases the absorption of sugar. Dairy is great too straight milk having the greatest carb count.
