Well I will be getting older tomorrow and I aways have cake on my BD. I dont know should I eat some cake?? I am doing really well on my diet for the last 2 weeks.
Maybe I am trying to talk myself into having a piece of cake. I keep saying to myself "you can have one piece of cake it will not hurt you". That keeps coming up in my head
What should i do?? or you can just reply and say
YES you can have it!!!!

Even nutritionalists believe that it is healthy to "spoil" your diet, on occasion that is. Unless you're on a extremely strict diet due to health issues, then you deserve to reward yourself with a SMALL sliver of cake! Happy Birthday!

I also suggest to find another alternative to cake, if you're really contemplating whether it's worth it. Fiber One sells delicious 90 calorie brownies, Turkey Hill/Breyer's sells all types of low-cal ice cream, or even try and whip up a cake of your own! There are plenty of ways to have your cake and eat it too, without the guilt

Screw that! Eat the cake! It's your birthday, it is a celebration. If you want to have a piece of cake then do it. When I get my special treats on occasion I always over contemplate on whether or not I should eat the pie, or go with the lo-cal ice cream. If you compare the calories between a small piece of cake and a cup of ice cream, the difference isn't going to break the bank. And on the special occasions where I do get to indulge then I'm picking something worth indulging in!!!

On my birthday, I bought everyone who was helping me celebrate their own cupcake. That way, there were no left overs and I had a bit of portion control. And if someone didn't want their cupcake, I made them take it home.
And I got really special cupcakes from one of those cupcake stores...well except for me since I"m gluten free, I had to get mine and a very special bakery.
Happy Birthday!

you could also make an atkins friendly cheese cake! 2 bricks of cream cheese, 2 eggs and 3/4 cup of splenda - put into cup cake foils and bake at 350 for 25 minutes!
don't let your struggle become your identity!

krystynecar, not everyone on this site is an Atkins dieter. In fact, the original author isn't.

Hey NC - Happy Birthday!!! Since I know you don't cook very much, where do you generally get the cake? Is it made from a family member or something you get while out at a restaurant???
There are a lot of reasons why I would normally say sure go ahead and enjoy one piece...but...
Being a Diabetic brings with it certain things you're going to have to accept. And one of them is learning to deal with special occasions - and your favorite foods. Can you get a Sugar Free Cake from a bakery? Or one made w/ Splenda?
Whatever you choose, make it a small piece, and just one...
Hope you have a lovely day!
Live, Love, Laugh ...make each day memorable and enjoy the journey.
The bar noted below, does not tell the entire story!

Eat the cake. But eat one piece. One REAL serving sized piece. You won't gain 38 pounds overnight, I promise
And this is coming from the girl that essentially just doesn't eat grains. (No, not following any fancy diet.. I just find that for me, personally, they don't fill me up enough and feel too 'empty' of calories. And I haven't like... died of carb deficiency for any skeptics out there
, and I'm super active.)

Eat the cake! Last year I was really doing well and my birthday came and I really wanted cake but I didn't eat any. I went off my lifestyle plan the next day and couldn't get back on for 3 months. Eat the cake! Enjoy it! Then hop back on the train....

+1 on the cupcake idea.
I'm generally of the school of thought that you shouldn't have to think SO hard about one meal or one snack. ONE piece of cake, worked into your plan as a whole, shouldn't cause so much agony! If you decide to do it, make a plan, stick to it, and get it in your belly! Just make sure you enjoy it, so it's actually worth it.
Happy Birthday!

I had a doctor tell me, to have any kind of treats that I wanted on holidays. I.E. Birthdays and holidays. There are what 12-13 holidays a year plus family birthdays (depending the size of your family). You won't have that many times during the whole year to have cake and ice cream. The rest of the year you stay away from all the treats.

The importance of setting your Recommended Daily Intake RDI
I agree... If you stick with the default you will most likely not see the results you want. I adjust my calorie range for every 5-10 pounds lost. I need to redo mine today.
