I'm on a mission!!! Being obese all of my adult life kept me from doing alot of things that other people my age normally do. My greatest dream is to become a mother. Other than the obvious reasons for losing weight..(being healthy) I want to get pregnant!! I had a big wake up call when my insurance denied bariatric surgery, I knew I had to do something before it was too late. Nearing 400 pounds (started at 366) Yes I say 400 lbs because it's THAT serious, I decided to turn my life around... I went to my doctor and cried and just let it all out... I didn't want to live like that anymore. For the first time in over 7 years, I've began to lose weight... I eat healthy, I exercise EVERYDAY!!!! I'm down almost 30 pounds in 6 weeks and I'm feeling soooooo good! I never knew how good this would feel until now, I should have done this many years ago!! I'm on a mission and I'm not stopping, this is me now, no longer nearly 400 lbs, almost 300 and I gonna keep working hard until I have what I've always wanted, a precious child in my arms which is what makes all of this worth every drop of sweat and hard work.

i can think of no better reason to get healthy! it will take time and a lot of hard work but if you stick with it, you will get there.

and if I could offer some advice...i took a look at your diet calendar and if your food logged is all you have eaten, you are eating way too few calories. i know you are losing weight now & that is great! but eventually your body will figure out what is going it and your weight loss will stall. eating 1200 calories and exercising everyday can damage your metabolism. there are a lot of posts on here about starvation mode. i would hate for you to lose your momentum after losing 30 pounds already & having such a wonderful goal.

I had that "awakening" one day also after being overweight my whole life (since I was 9). Isn't it liberating to finally be able to make that conscious decision to do something about it?
You can do it! Keep up the positive attitude and those pounds will be gone before you know it.

Thank you all for your comments, I'm really enjoying this website it's keeping me motivated! I have wondered about my calorie intake... I was never told how many calories I need but I did kinda read a little about not having enough and the starvation mode but I don't get it.. to me it just seems more is bad. I just don't get hungry, I'm taking Phentermine and that really suppresess my hunger. I have been gradually trying to up my calories, today is an example but I end up feeling guilty. I guess I need to do a little research and talk to my doctor about what I need. As for that "awakening" that you mention, yes I do feel good about it, I just hope that I can continue with this lifestyle and finally achieve what I want.. it's gonna take a long long time!

the quality of your calories is just as important and the quantity. you want to make sure you are getting them from whole grains, fruits, veggies & quality protein. the more natural to it's original form the better, like an apple, not applesauce.

there's no fixed number of calories that works for everyone. you just have to learn what your body needs.
