My daughter's birthday is next week, the 27th to be exact. I am getting her a 1/4 sheet cake from Tops. How do I not eat a slice? Would it hurt to have one slice if I know I can stop at that? Sad
It's also my weigh in day, so I will weigh myself that morning and then maybe go into my weekly points for her party? Does anyone know what the points would be?

Will one slice ruin your enitre life - probably not if you plan for it and limit yourself to one small piece - think long term.

BUT more importantly, what will you GAIN from it? Your daughter is not going to care if you have it or not. Her b-day party friends certainly will not take offense if you pass. You will probably enjoy it for a second, and then beat yourself up for hours later. If a parent or relative asks why you are not eating it, just say you are saving a piece for later when you can put your feet up and enjoy it or that you just don't care for one right now.

HOWEVER... if you don't have it, you will have a moment of thinking it would taste so good...followed by hours of congratulating yourself for NOT eating it. You will have set a good habit in process. Your new found healthy eating habits will influence your daughter as she grows into a young woman. And you will like yourself a whole lot more for just ignoring that the cake is there.

But just remember that there is no magic in that cake. It is not Alice in wonderland - no bite will make you big or small... It has no power over you. It is your CHOICE to eat it or not. Make that choice with reason and intent. Good luck. The choice is all yours, no one elses.

How do you not eat a slice? Just DON'T. It's your mouth, do what you want with it.

But I'm of the mindset that you should enjoy a little bit of it and move on if you really want to. It's just food, just like all other foods. Sure, it's more 'expensive' points-wise than most other food, but if it would be worth it to you then plan for it, hold yourself accountable and let that be the last you think of it.

If you choose not to, then that's great too. Either way, you can do it!

I'm the type of person that if I eat one slice of birthday cake, I will not be able to stop. If that's the case, have a substitute like the hostess 100 calorie cupcakes. And drink LOTS of water. I know that when I drink water, it helps with sugar cravings.

If you regularly give yourself good reasons to 'fall off the wagon' then you probably need to stop, starting with the birthday cake. If you're usually very very good, then this once won't hurt, although you may need to compensate by eating salad for the rest of the day Smile

I reckon if everytime I wanted to grab a bite of something tasty and delicious looking I restrained myself... I would be 60 lbs heavier. If you want a piece, eat a piece. Food is not your enemy, snacks are not your enemy. The enemy is "overdoing" it. I will have to disagree with the statement of "their is no magic in that cake", Cake is magic. And I love cake, so when I want cake I will eat cake. I will also work it off at the gym later. Your worry shouldn't be "should i eat a small piece of cake" it should be, "should I eat too much cake". Whatever too much is, I dunno. Food is good. The end.

No. 1 reason I end up gaining all the weight back that I lose.. Restraining myself from food I really enjoy for a long period of time. I do this over and over, this time I am using "moderation" and not hating on my close friend sugar. We have a much more healthy relationship together now. Still love you sugar!!! Sugar: Your my no. 1 Panther!!
