From what I can see you are not eating enough. You should not be going below 1200 or so calories a day. I am not sure what your RDI is, but all you are doing by eating so much less is stalling out your metabolism.

Hi I think that your main focus is on eating right and continue to work on that. You have to incorporate exercise in your life to lose that kind of weight. I have not viewed your food journal yet, but I believe that if you exercise(That will start you to losing again). Your body has became use to that routine and you have to continue to shock your body for results. Find a simple exercise first and start off with three times a week of just walking. When you notice that it is becoming easy then increase you exercise or speed. TRY TO DO A WEEK CHALLENGE WITH EXERCISE AND WEIGHT YOURSELF TO SEE IF IT WORKS

I agree with Focus33. My start weight was not much less than yours, but I started with an RDI of 1500 calories and I lost like crazy. I think you're eating and exercising too little.

sh........i'm no expert but i think your intake range widely....700-1400 and i noticed your outputs are under 2500 daily...i got best results when i got near 4000kcal ouputs with 1500kcal intakes, albeit life gets in the way..biggest loser videos & xbox 360 allow at home cardio..hang in there!!

I agree with fluffynotfat and focus33.

Your food journal indicates that your daily average food intake for this month so far is 704kcal. Eating 704 kcal per day is going to make your body do weird things since you are essentially starving it.

Bring that number up. I've heard the number 1200 passed around a lot to keep a body from going into starvation mode. I try to keep it higher than that, but that's just me.

My biggest advice is to make sure that the calories consumed is less than the calories burned. However, always try to consume at least 1200, to keep your body from starvation mode.

Not eating enough and way too many CARBS (too many low calorie, low fat processed crap and not enough whole foods like VEGGIES and too many sweets). You need more proteins and fats - I promise your food will taste better and you'll lose weight too.

Hey Need2lose100... at 242 I think you start out closer to 1800 calories a day. That's what I did and it worked for me. Get some exercise if you want, but start with getting enough nutrition in your body.

I agree with greerp... eat lean protein, veggies/fruits/ complex carbs... and don't be afraid of fat. BUT, do eat more and evenly throughout the day.

And guzzle water! You'll feel a lot better too.

Use a generally accepted BMI calculator like the one at WebMD (FatSecret's calculator is apt to have you eating yourself silly and gaining not losing) and get a better idea of what your target daily intake should be, and eat to it. Not over it, but as has been said repeatedly in this thread don't consistently come in way under it. It definitely sounds like your body's in "starvation mode", and your metabolism has thrown on the brakes. You simply cannot lose weight over time by trying to over do it. That 100 pounds WILL come off (I'm coming up on 70, myself), but it will take months, not weeks.

As far as exercise, I've found that as you lose weight your activity level just seems to naturally increase as you tire out less and stay on your feet more. Exercise is a great addition to a weight loss plan, as it strengthens your circulatory and respiratory systems, increases your muscle mass and can help boost your metabolism. However, remember that if you do incorporate real exercise into your plan, then you need to eat calories to replace those you've burned. Exercise is NOT a free ticket to go under your RDI, and those burned calories push your target HIGHER. If you aren't eating enough to replenish what you burn working out you're going to find your exercise may be more of a negative than a positive. If you're going to run your body hard, you MUST fuel it.

Also, the assertion that you have to have a structured exercise program to lose 100 pounds is not true. It is perfectly possible to lose 100 pounds by diet alone. The benefit exercise will give you is in building up the calorie burning muscle and cardio/respiro health that will help you to keep that weight off. And, if you find you simply cannot live within your RDI's calorie restriction, then exercise can help even out your overeating, but that doesn't sound like a problem you have. So exercise definitely does get a big thumbs up, but don't feel like you have to be Jillian Michaels to get your 100 pounds off. You don't. Just do what you can, when you can.

But eat all the way to that RDI! =)

I was just wondering what kind of carbs you were eating. I noticed they were the highest number on your diet calendar. If they are coming mostly from processed food such as bread, white rice and pasta, and crackers or cereal and starchy vegetables like potatoes or corn, I would cut them out and only eat whole foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables, brown rice and whole wheat pasta along with lean protein and low fat dairy. Exercise is a biggie too even if you just start out walking you'll see results. Hope this helps.

Increase your protein, less carbs. Eat every 3 hours to get your metabolism cranked up. Make sure you drink all your water. Very important. Take your weight in pounds divide by 2. This is how many ounces of water you must drink daily.
Some form of resistance training is also very important. You don't need a gym membership or have to spend hours on a tred mill. Purchace a resistance band and a couple bumbells. Increase your lean muscle mass and reap the benefits of an even faster metabolism. Take your exercise real easy at first. Your body will tell you when you can ramp up your exercise routine. Just listen to your body.
