Hi guys.
I really think i have a problem with sugary things, no matter how full i am i can just eat a whole thing of cookies etc.
Whenever im hungy i try to eat something good that will fill me up, but after that im always craving for something sweet. No matter what i eat really.

So it really is an addiction, any tips on how to kick it? Smile

First, I would get all the sugar stuff completely out of the house! And I mean everything. Also, it's going to be difficult for any of us to assist you since you aren't posting your food intake nor your exercise. But for the sugar cravings, just get it away from you. Maybe substitute strawberries, blue berries, and other sweet fruits. Yogurt could be a wonderful substitute. Especially the 0% Greek yogurts. They have a natural sweet flavor but without the sugar content.

Yes cold turkey is the best way to go and eventually the things you once enjoyed will seem too sweet. Consuming a lot of sugar substitutes or products that have any kind of added sugar can also induce a sugar craving, like diet soda or sugar free syrups in coffee. The first couple of days will be hard but if you can get past those you will be feeling much better.

I had the same problem as you. I was addicted to not only sugar (in the form of hfcs), but to caffeine as well. I gave both up cold turkey and drink nothing but water now. The only thing sweet I have is fruit. Ripe strawberries, ripe watermelon, ripe sweet cherries, and apples are a few that I ate in my transition and helped a lot. Now, I can taste the sugar in fruit instead of being desensitized to it.

I had the same issue and I still deal with it, I love cookies but
if you don't buy it you can't eat it. Fill your house with lots of sweet healthy snacks. Buy fruit like Strawberries, blueberries, raisins, Grapefruit. Low cal great taste.

I have to echo the other posters: First, get the sugar out of the house, and by sugar, I mean everything including the white bread, potatoes, rice, tortillas, pretzels, chips, watermelon, jams and jellies, and artificially sweetened products. Next, make a shopping list that puts the empahsis on lean proteins, veggies, and whole grains. Find yourself some sprouted grain bread instead of regular bread. For sweets, get strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, baby carrots -- and believe it or sweet red, orange, and yellow peppers. Really good ones taste really sweet, but are low sugar. Try making a pitcher of peppermint tea and chill eat. You'll find that the peppermint tea has a smooth flavor that doesn't require sugar, and it's very refreshing. Put yourself on this absolutely straight and narrow for two weeks, and you will find yourself starting to feel much more in control. Once you're on top of this, you can start experimenting with things like Kind Bars, Luna Bars, and other healthy sweet tooth snacks. Get to know the glycemic index. The glycemic index is your friend. It will tell you what foods bump up your blood sugar and could launch all the cravings. Stick with low glycemic foods for a few months, and I absolutely guarantee you things will be better.

Craving
Well good luck with those challenges. There must be a good reason you feel you can't have just one of the carb, lower calorie beers. I admire your discipline and determination.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.
