I'm new here and so far am very impressed with the website. Didn't take me very long to decide to join and start writing a little.

I'm around 200 at this time and have been dieting only 6 days. Today is my first day here. The recipes were what drew me to the website.

My goal is 120 and to do it in 6-8 months. Since I've gained my self esteem has really gone down. Something must be happening to me already. Men are taking notice and talking to me again. In my opinion this is not my weight but my confidence. I'm married and he never mentions my weight gain. He is the only man in the world for me but I want to feel good around my handsome husband.

We both deserve this. Plus being healthy is very important to both of us. Other men looking at me, talking and just smiling my way, can make me uncomfortable but when they stopped, it hurt worse. Obviously it is also my aura. Today was a good day however. I know this is something I CAN do and will do.

Being uncomfortable in my body is not fun.

Tonight I'm grateful to finally calmed down my ego. It agrees with me that over eating and eating the wrong foods does not make me happy.

Day one here! I hope to still be here and to share with all my experience at 120!

good for you i myself am a newbie too and only joined yesterday, my mum has been on this site sine january and she is doing well. Today is my first day on weight watchers but doing it at home on the old points system - have decided not to do a club i would rather bank the £6.00 each week and spend it on mne for a treat when i need one. Good luck

I am new here too. I have been "trying to lose weight" forever, but never stick to it...I eat too much crap and I don't get enough excercise, but I really do want to change.

I used to be in really good shape and I find my added weight really depressing. I am about 5'6" and 250, the top side of my healthy weight is 150. So my ultimate goal is to get to 150, my immediate goal is to just cross that 200 mark. I can't run anymore, it hurts my knees...I am sick of clothes not fitting properly...grrrrrrr. Thankfully I am still really healthy when it comes to things like cholesterol, blood pressure etc. I am still strong and can exercise without any major trouble. I just need to get in control of things before I have problems.

My husband (of almost 10 years) is also overweight, but he loses so easily when he tries. The key here is "when". We are really bad influences on each other...and he doesn't care that I gained so much weight he still thinks I am beautiful so it can be hard to find that motivation. My Dad lost about 65 lbs over the last few years, my Mom is naturally thin...pretty much no one in my family or friends is as overweight as me ...they just don't understand...I am in DESPERATE need of friends

Well enough about me...thanks for listening! Good luck to all in reaching your weight goals!!!

Is there a report for protein, sugar etc to help determine what I need and dont need?

eExplorer - unfortunately there's no one right answer to your question. First you have to decide what kind of diet is best for you, then plot your carbs, protein, and fat according to the parameters of that diet. For example, I eat low glycemic, which means a balance of 30-40% complex carbs to 60-70% proteins and good fats. But I eat way more carbs and fat than someone who is on Atkins... and probably far fewer net carbs than someone on Weight Watchers. Whatever diet you pick, you can probably find articles on the Internet about the specific diet that give you guidelines for nutrition. Good luck.

Wait -- I meant to say I eat more carbs and LESS fat than on Atkins. Sorry.
