King Corn Documentary

Finally got around to watching this last night on Netflix Streaming. Disturbing, of course. It's a good one if you want to have a better understanding of what's in your food. Of course, with me it's preaching to the choir, but it definitely made me glad I'm avoiding processed food and factory farmed meat.

From Rotten Tomatoes:
"Synopsis: Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper... Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, move to the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help of friendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America's most-productive, most-subsidized grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when they try to follow their pile of corn into the food system, what they find raises troubling questions about how we eat--and how we farm."

Anybody else see this? What did you think?

Watched it probably about this time last year. My favorite part is when they made HFCS! Anyways, after watching it I became very aware of how much corn has permeated our foods. Also, it made me loathe Monsanto.

I was kind of disappointed they didn't get to tour a HFCS factory. And then I liked how it was explained that it was for their own protection- yeah, because there's a bunch of hazardous chemicals in there!

I was most disturbed by the cattle in the feed lots. I felt very sad for those cows.
