I like this site. I like it quite a bit in fact.
Frickenamazingwonderfulspintabulous
... and a
FREE
site at that with outstanding support from the webmasters. Now... with that said....
I posted a Thanksgiving desert recipe four months ago and it is still awaiting approval. Come on people, my goodness gracious! Thanksgiving will not even be celebrated any more by the time it's approved or not.
I'm just venting...

Yeah same thing happened to me - I tried to add a recipe about a year ago, it's still in "pending" status... I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or missed a step somewhere?? That was the first and only time I tried!

Pending is different then Awaiting Approval. There is somewhere on your page to post to public or submit recipe so that it can go to awaiting approval status. ~tig

Is there another recipe that is similar on FS, I think that they just leave them in limbo when there is more than one recipe that is similar.
You say you want a cheeseburger but all I hear is "I need love" - a comic strip on the fridge at work.

I have NEVER been able to get a recipe to go through nor have I been able to start any kind of thread/posting. For some reason I always get the "will be reviewed" message and then it goes nowhere. I figured it was just me. Glad I'm not the only "black-listed" member out there!
Consider each event with the question: Will it matter next summer?

Keep in mind this is just a snapshot of someone's life. Just because their profile says they started at a particular weight, does not necessarily mean that is the heaviest they have ever been....it's just a moment when they started FatSecret. Assumptions get the better of you.

I've posted several recipes over the 9 months I've been a member, and all are "awaiting approval." I think whatever process existed for approving recipes has fallen through the cracks and we'll never get anything approved again. So...on occasion, I've cut and pasted a recipe into a forum post when it's relevant to the discussion.

I found that the ones I posted WITH a photo got approved almost immediately. The rest are still awaiting approval.

Pineapple: I wouldn't doubt it a bit! 8^ ) Pixi: Mine happens to be unique, nothing else like it up there. It's a pumpkin cheesecake and with my searches anyway, I did not see another. Hermiones Mom: I am doing the same and at least I'm not alone. 8^ ) Z's: Lucky! Hehe, mine has a cute lil picture of a slice of heaven. Ceebee: Thank you!! I am still doin the do though, next goal of 6% more body fat to lose and I will do a combo picture of then and when. I hide what I have left to lose pretty well. hehehe. ~tig

Has anyone ever been able to contact them and ask what takes so long? Who are the powers to be of this site? I like this place (once I got used to it) because it isn't as "busy". OMG! S(park)P(eople) is so confusing and busy, I can't concentrate on what I'm doing over there.

lol Kendra, I really don't think there are to many active admins on this site. I tried SP and it just felt to myspacey and there was WAY to many things going on which is why I like this site, its pretty plain and simple.

I wrote an email and got a response back very quickly stating that in this time of year, the recipe submissions were substantial and they would be getting to them when they could. I have also had to write to them for issues my bio was having and they responded and fixed it very quickly. I really can't complain because of how quick they are on issues other than my recipe submission, the site is always fast, and up and works well. I didn't even mention that it's not the only recipe hanging in limbo, I have three total out there ;^ ) ~tig

I've submitted many recipes and only a few have been accepted. I believe that the only way they get accepted is if
A. there is a photo
B. there isn't already something similar in the database
C. the recipe is complete (appropriately divided into servings, all directions clear, etc.
I'm pretty sure that if your recipe isn't approved within days after submitting it, it never will be. At least that has been my experience.
As far as admins, there aren't any here, as far as I can tell- or at least they don't interact. They do shut down spammers, but other than that it seems like this is a self-policing community. Which honestly makes it pretty amazing that there aren't MORE flame wars.
If you want to contact FS use the link at the bottom of the page. They usually get back to you pretty quick.

Oooh, interesting Kate, I will check out 'C', I may be able to improve there. Maybe remove and resubmit with better/different instructions. ty! ~tig

Someone will have to explain to me why its even necessary to have an approval system for recipes. Why can't they just let this section of the site manage itself like everything else? And what's the problem with having something similar already in the database? I happen to think more recipes and more options would be a positive, not a negative- I've often spent time looking online for a slightly different version of the same idea that allows me to better use ingredients I have on hand- not to mention that there might be entirely different approaches to making a recipe for calorie counters vs the same thing for Atkins dieters. I just don't see a reason to have a gatekeeper for recipes when it doesn't exist on any other aspect of the site, especially when it prevents good recipes from getting out there and getting USED!

The trick is to always include a photo, and to give it an interesting name that doesn't sound like something similar that's already in the kitchen.
What you can try to do is make sure that the recipe you tried to submit has a snazzy name...I ended up doing that with one of my recipes and it was approved within hours of submitting it. I think I have about 8 other recipes in "limbo" as well.

I really wish that there was a "reject" status for recipes rather than just having them left in limbo. I've had a few accepted and a few left in limbo.
One problem with them being left in limbo is that they're uneditable.

gnat, I think the approval is to be sure there aren't bogus things submitted. I work in a school and I see the damage a few forlorn folks can do -- especially to others who are naieve. That's just my guess.
And I concur with Kate, it's about pictures and clarity. (Or at least it is now, it didn't used to be.)

Do you like cottage cheese or does it make you cringe?
I mix cottage cheese with scrambled eggs before cooking them in the morning. Great additional boost and the flavor is wonderful.

COCONUT WATER
I love coconut water & prefer Harmless Harvest raw coconut water. It's more expensive, but worth it, I think. I get it at Whole Foods or a local health food store.
