Is This The Only Weight Loss Website You Use?

I'm just curious how many people have lost weight using this website only?

I have joined other websites, and the caloric goal they recommended for me to lose weight was much more less than what fatsecrets recommend.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Smile

This is the only site and application I use on my phone! It has proven to be the best for me and they are very accurate in the information they give!! I love it and have been getting great results!

I use Fatsecret along with the WW Points Android Application by GivenToFly. I basically use that just to remind me how many points I've already planned for the day AND to check any tempting snacks to see if I can even budget them in. The combination of the two has worked wonders for me when I've "failed" so much in the past.

After a lot of trial and error, I've found this site to be very accurate for me personally if I use it a specific way.

First, I set my RDI to "maintain my weight" and sedentary, just to get an idea of how I would eat if I was going to maintain the status quo without exercise. The I ignore the RDI.

I decide how much to eat my using the diet calendar. I enter in focused exercise only (not desk work or cleaning or anything else like that) and leave the rest as sleeping and resting. Once you choose "this is all my exercise" you will be able to see the total calories burned on the diet calendar. To lose 1 pound per week, subtract 500 calories a day from this number. To lose 2 pounds of week, subtract 1000 calories a day. One caveat: if you are close to your goal weight, you may not be able to subtract 1000 calories without your total intake going too low. It is very important to set a minimum number of calories. 1200 should be the absolute smallest amount you eat. If you are active and exercise, you may need to have a higher minimum. Go by how you feel. If you aren't eating enough, you will lose intensity in your workouts. My minimum is 1500. Less than that and I feel like ass and can't complete my exercise as I like.

As far as other sites, I have used Sparkpeople, which is an excellent site but too busy for me. I find this site to have a better sense of community.

I also regularly visit coolrunnings.com, for running advice and recommendations.

I guess my final answer is that everyone is different and it will require some trial and error to find what works best for you as an individual. The food diary here will let you try different things to find this balance. Just remember, it may not be as little as you think. Many people are under the mistaken impression that the less you eat the better and that is simply untrue.

I have been using the CalorieCounter/Fat Secret application on my phone since last Nov. I've loved it, but it has come to make me obsessive with counting calories... I just got a fitbit device the other day for my birthday, so I am going to move on to that online website now and try to not worry about how many calories a day I am eating, and to focus on just eating healthy. Wish me luck! Who knows, maybe i'll be back here within the week Razz

Dear kwebs,
I also use sparkpeople. It's a more comprehensive site, but I do like to have access to both sites just in case there is useful information on one that isn't on the other. Good luck.

I sometimes read and post over on 3fatchicks.com but I don't use them for tracking calories. They have a pretty extensive review section so I often look there if I'm considering a new exercise device or dvd.

I mostly use this one, although I have never really gone by the RDI it calculates for me. I started out eating at the lowest calorie level I could tolerate just to get my eating habits straightened out, & that turned out to be around 1800 I think. Once I incorporated regular exercise I was hungry more often so I raised it based on that, not based on something a website told me.

The only other site I use is Bodymedia.com, because I have their activity monitor. However, I take the total calories burned uploaded to that site from my monitor & enter them into my exercise diary here, so this site is my primary one.
