Don't forget that shoveling snow at a moderate rate burns between 280 and 675 calories per hour. What we are getting is far from average!
Shovel the driveway and skip the gym!

So jealous of you midwesterners: I'm in Pittsburgh and all we're getting is freezing rain. Spreading salt isn't nearly as good at calorie burning as shoveling.
Wish were getting the white stuff instead of the wet stuff (and so do my kids!)
Careful out there.

I am in South East Kansas and were getting the same storm as you . I have 9 inches on the front yard right now and they are saying 12 more inches are coming. This is one of the worst storms we have ever had.

Stacie, I knew you were from the Chicago area when one of your recent posts said The Jewel. We don't go to The Walmart or The Dominick's or The Kroger, but we always go to The Jewel, you know over by dare.

We're even supposed to be getting snow down in Houston, but i doubt it will be enough to shovel, i'll still have to hit the gym...

At least you guys have snow or even wet stuff, I would take that over what we have in SD right now any day. The wind chill last night got to -55F. It makes me want to hibernate like a proper mammal and eat lots of fat to try and stay warm. Maybe I'll burn calories shivering.
Everyone stay safe and warm this weekend!

osugspaleo--- where are you in South Dakota. I am in the SOuth East. I am agreeing with you. Anywhere sounds better than here,, except maybe in Canada!.. Its is double digits below zero everywhere, which makes for a deep hard iceburg in the driveway. The snow freezes so hard it makes it nearly impossible to scoop!.

Wanda Jo - I am in the Black Hills area. I usually love it here, it's gorgeous and lots of opportunities for nice hikes, but right now it's just ridiculous out. Stay warm!
