I was wondering if anyone out there had tried the various fitness games for Wii and which ones they enjoyed. Do they actually work? I just want something that will get me moving on days when I have work and class and don't have time to go to the gym or run. Thanks!

I have Wii Active (the first version) and think it is O.K. I don't feel very challenged by most of the exercises. I also have Gold's Gym Cardio Workout which I really like. It is all boxing and I do find the upper levels on this game to be sufficiently challenging. I'd love to here about anyone else's experience with other Wii games. It's a great substitute for those days when I can't make it to the gym.

I have the new Wii Fit Plus and I enjoy doing the freestyle jogging. I set it for 30 minutes and I mix it up by jogging and walking either in place or around the livingroom well cleaning up. You can change the channel on the tv and watch whatever you want as the remote will let you know when time is up. I also do the freestyle stepping and the regular stepping which i really enjoy. I mix it up every other day by doing the Yoga moves. and I find the balance games really fun and challanging as well. I force myself to do at least 15 minutes on the Wii everyday even if I don't feel like it. I also like that i feel motivated by my Wii tracker.

I agree. A great substitute when regular routines aren't available. It is limited as far as intensity but it's still versatile! I am actually thinking about getting one; I can't make it to the gym because of my schedule. AND, they are reasonably priced compared to other gaming consoles, although, you could just get some aerobic tapes/dvd's for cheaper and feel just as satisfied.

wii fit plus is a good one, but i agree that going to the gym is better because it makes you work out more sorta, like you have to go there and you wont lazy out on yourself if you go. maybe.

idk, wii fit plus is great but after doping the same thing over and over, it may get boring if you dont like repitition.

Muhahah!

I have the wii fit plus, i find the cycling once you get to the long, the free jog, and a few other games truly a "workout", but i also like to just take an hour and play a buncha the mini games when i want time to fly.

I have ea active and active more workouts. (i do not have active 2 yet). The challenges, i found, in the beginning, were a absolutely killer way to get myself into "real" workouts. the resistance band they give you is about useless, but once you figure out how to make the controls register, it definitely was a great start. I also used to do 30 minute step routines, which i found far more useful than the wii fit plus step routines.

I have golds gym. I like boxing. I like boxing a lot. Hence, I like this game, a lot.

I have both the first biggest loser wii game, and the newer biggest loser challenge game. They are both hard core workouts, but the controls don't register very well, and I do not like the system on the new one, where you say "i'm going to workout for 3 days a week, an hour a day" and they turn that into 75 minutes, btw, and they decide which 3 days, which kind of workout, and there is no "i'm sorry, it's my son's birthday, can i do this tomorrow on my rest day" option. On the other hand, it does keep me from going "i'm too tired today wah wah". And if you're really doing it for a workout, the fact that the controls don't always register doesn't really matter - I am rather bleah on the whole "game" aspect of the game. I don't really care if I beat imaginary game people during my weigh in. Heh.

As someone without access to a gym (well, i could get a membership, but most in my area require babies be 2 or older for their daycare, and the bus rides in both directions would turn it into a 4 hour plus trip for me...not worth it) - i am a big fan of the "video games that make you move" idea. I also use a lot of dvds (not aerobics susan sommers style... i'm talking boot camp type dvds) - an exercise bike, and jog in place. (Treadmill will be order in a little less than 7 days! Hell yeah tax return time!) Some of the wii games burn more calories (according to my bodybugg) than any of the other workouts. I wouldn't plan my entire exercise program around it by any means, but its a great addition to the fitness tool box.

If the alternative is sitting on your butt, the wii is a great way to go!

However, I am looking into the kinect now. The whole holding the controller, trying to make it register, getting annoyed aspect of virtually all the games (not so much the fit plus, but all the others) has gotten to a point where it affects my posture, etc, while working out. (Uh... I didn't get to 270 running marathons... i was playing video games in the womb i'm fairly sure. Probably pre-atari ones, but still!)

I love my Wii fit plus. I can get a work out in during a party with close friends/family. We're all sweatin' by the end of the night and laughing too!

When I just need to burn a few extra calories I will set it to free step and march away while I watch a stupid sitcom on tv. I forget I've worked out until I try to walk in my high heels the next day and my calves are burning!

Thank you so much for all the suggestions! I will definitely look into getting the Wii Fit Plus and the Gold's Gym game. I have some fitness DVDs, plus my cable company offers some fitness routines free on demand but my boyfriend gave me a Wii for Christmas and I haven't really been using it much. Hopefully once I get these games that will change! Has anyone tried any of the dance games? Are they fun?

Hiya, just wanted to suggest another Nintendo device. The Nintendo DS. I've been using 'Let's Yoga' now for about 3 months. I feel fitter and more flexible now.

The advantage above the Wii is that it is portable. It has programs ranging for use at work or in a desk chair to when you cannot sleep at night. You can focus on specific body parts, create your own work outs etc. Anyways, I can really recommend it.

ConfusedAngel, I also love the Kinect concept, I can't wait till some good exercise software is released. Great thing about XBOX Live is that you can agree with a group of people to do, say Yoga, together and you'll be able to see their avatars moving and talking, sighing complaining....!

Look into picking up "My Fitness Coach" for the Wii. The first one is great. It's like a DVD, but all the routines are tailored to your fitness levels and goals. There's upper and lower body workouts, plus cardio and yoga. (And since it's an "older" game, it's probably pretty cheap right now!)

I love the wii. Even things like wii sports and things get me moving around. My personal favourite is the "Just Dance" games. They are fun and some are pretty high energy. I also love wii fit. Some of those games are sooo fun. Instead of going out drinking on fridays, we stay home and play those ridiculous games. Double bonus, movement and no empty beer calories.

Gold's Gym has a dance game too and it's a ton of fun. Tons of kick boxing too which is tough and a great workout. Haven't done it in a few days but it's what kickstarted my getting healthy. Need to get after it tomorrow - I've been doing treadmill workouts instead and it's soo not the same as dancing and shaking it!

Just Dance is fun and a decent workout. My 10 year old daughter and her friends like it, too!

Burpees - Correct Form
I have a love/hate relationship with burpees but they are a great "all in one" exercise. It's easy to get tired and lose form. Thought this was a good video to share. [url=http://yout ...
