I've always had a strong obsession for Chocolate and now that I'm PMS'n I want it sooo bad!!! I'm tired witha bad headache and everyone in my life is irritating me. Eating chocolate usually drowns away my moods...but I don't want to go back to that. What can I do? Can I possibly ignore the urge to heavily splurge?!!!! Will I be able to stop at just one piece?

That's a tough one for me. If I have a whole chocolate bar sitting in front of me, chances are it's gone. If it's something that's individually wrapped, that might help. (Just as long as the rest of the package is out of sight, otherwise for me, wrappings are going to pile up.)
I wonder if there's something OTHER than chocolate that can help fix the craving. I'd certainly be interesting in finding out.

Chocolate seems to cure my headache. A good low calorie choice for me during the summer is a Fudgesicle, no sugar, 40 calories.

TauchaMonique - I saw Fudgesicles at Costco yesterday, I don't know why I didn't buy them. Going back for them NOW!!!
TheChunkyOne - I agree that Sugar free chocolate pudding is a good choice. I do have those here. Hopefully that satisfies my craving. I doubt it though :-/
TheBake - I am the SAME way. If it's here, I'm going to eat it. I tried buying pre-packaged Herseys Dark Chocolate mini-bars and before the day was over, I ATE THE WHOLE BAG. I even went as far as to hide the candy wrappers deep in the garbage so my husband wouldn't see that I ate it all. It's pretty sad, huh? So I cannot even buy chocolate candy anymore because I will eat it all.

Eat some chocolate. Chocolate is high in magnesium which will help your muscles relax and also iron which you lose during your period. Chocolate is a mood elevator and has some great health benefits.
Just watch the portion. What I do is go out and buy the best dark chocolate I can get (not the sugary comercial kind!). My personal favorite is Ghiradelli 86% Intense Dark Midnight Reverie. 1 square is 60 cal. I usually have 2 a day during that time of the month. You can buy single serving sized squares at some stores if you're concerned about having a lot around your house. I've read that your body burns more calories during that time anyway, but I just work it into my diet.

Milk chocolate is the bad chocolate that you want to stay away from. Just like k8yk stated dark chocolate is the best choice with the health benefits attached to it and it will curb your craving.

k8yk and BeautiBabe - Yes I have heard about the health benefits in chocolate but when I eat it, I get put into this magical place where my brain says "Give me more, more, more or I'll die" LOL! Seriously though, I do have to learn to control it. I'm not a picky chocoholic sadly so I will eat all Brands, but I agree that Ghiradelli (although not cheap) has the best quality. I'm sure my husband will gladly buy it for me if it promises to better my mood
Thanks Girls

If you go with a high cocoa count dark chocolate like the 86% or even 90% that should help some with the cravings and help you not over indulge as well! My wife has the exact same problem once a month with chocolate but doesn't really like anything over 65% cocoa. Hershey's Special Dark for instance, is delicious but only has 45% cocoa and to achieve the health benefits you really want to stay above 70% cocoa. The higher the percentage of other ingredients, the lower the sugar content, so the higher content chocolates will be increasingly bitter which is what helps my wife not over indulge and it's healthy for her. Good luck!

Frozen Choco-Banana
.
I use agave nectar rather than maple syrup, and you can use almond extract rather than vanilla if you want variety. It's cured my chocolate cravings pretty well.
You can also make a chocolate mousse clone in a very similar way, but using silken tofu rather than banana. 12 oz silken tofu, 2T cocoa powder, 2T agave nectar, a splash of vanilla. Toss it in a blender then pour it into ramekins and chill. For variety you can add cinnamon or a bit of coffee, liqueur, etc.
My personal philosophy is that I loathe and despise artificial foods, and artificial sweeteners are at the top of that list. Because of that, I'd rather use real sweeteners and take a calorie hit rather than using chemical sweeteners. If you prefer lower calorie you can replace the natural sweeteners with artificial.

I second and third all the ideas about No Sugar Added Fudgesicles, dark chocolate and Sugar Free Jello Chocolate Pudding. I have been doing really well with my cravings with using all of these options. I also have some Diet Hot Cocoa - Swiss Miss I think, and that only has 25 calories a cup.

There's nothing wrong with a little chocolate on your diet. Just keep the portion small. Also, if you use dark chocolate, you will get the maximum affect without too much sugar. I like the 70-80% cocoa bittersweet chocolate.

Phule - I cannot wait to experiment with the different cocoa counts in Dark Chocolate. YUM! I think I'm way too excited for this challenge lol!
Hoser - thanks so much for the recipes. Definitely worth checking out.
Runesinger - I know they say we can basically eat whatever we want but it's the portion size that matters. And my eyes are always way too big for my stomach which in time makes my stomach big LOL! But you're absolutely right.
Again I appreciate everyone's feedback

I avoid eating too much by pre-measuring the portion. One of my favorites is Ritter sport Dark Chocolate with hazelnuts. I break off 3 squares, which is 1 oz. and then I put the rest away.

PMS is soooo last century...i mean with all the new development and advancement in today's society why hasn't any invented a way to get rid of the PMS symptoms...? i love being a girl until that time and then I'm like I need to rent another body (not experiencing this)for the week! ok sorry i know that doesn't help you situation just a lil humor..if you're craving chocolate have some in moderation doesn't hurt right? i would second the dark chocolate notes...but whenever I eat caffeine with PMS i get really bad cramps; anything with caffeine in it; don't know what that's about.

Try this:
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Tbsp Hershey's Dark Cocoa
Stevia to taste
Ice
Blend it up and you've got a great chocolate slushie without the sugar. 60 cals, 3 Carbs
Exercise is like meditation. The more you do it, the easier it becomes.
