A personal trainer strongly recommends taking CLA. Has anyone heard good or bad about it?

I think you would get some replies if you wrote what the acronym stands for.

By using google, I assume you are talking about
Conjugated Linoleic Acid
And I can't say I know one way or another, but I'm sure my BF knows so I'll ask him later. One thing I can say is I'd be skeptical of taking supplement advice from your personal trainer, especially if the gym where they work sells the supplements. From what I've observed at my own gym, they give out some rather incorrect advice at times. I'd do a lot of research online and maybe even ask your doctor before you consider taking any supplements.

Sorry, yes it is conjugated linoleic acid (so new to this, just thought that would be how people would know it). The trainer doesn't push buying it at their gym, just to buy it and use it. We'll see what happens. On the topic of gyms, is 30 min cardio (C25k)plus 30 min of weights sound about right K8yk, since you've been so successful?

That's pretty much what I did for the first year: 30 min cardio 30 min weights. Then later, I decided I'd rather split the cardio and weights into their own days. So now I do cardio 3-4 days a week for an hour or more and weights 2-3 days a week for an hour or more. I think do what you're doing until it stops working and then change it
There was a month where I decided I wouldn't do anything for more than 15 min, so I'd bike, run, stairs, rowing, etc, but never for more than 15 min. Now I'm on an endurance kick- like how many calories can I burn on the elliptical in one hour (900 is the current limit- I used to do 1000, but when you lose weight you burn less!). And I've been doing more intensive weight training so a whole session dedicated to that is working well for me.
But yes, 30/30 is totally reasonable, IMO

I heard that it didn't do anything.....like most supplements. I think you would be better served just tightening your diet a bit. As far as weights and cardio, your numbers sound good. I personally don't do structured cardio, but I am sure it would be good for your heart.
The spike diet rocks!

My BF agreed that it's pretty useless, like most supplements. But I would still read up on it and then go back to your trainer with questions, just to test his/her knowledge
