So I am wondering, should I freak out about the carbs and sugars in fruit? Thats probably a stupid questions because fruits are suppose to be good for you, but I am trying to watch my sugar in take and I read women should only be eating 26 grams of sugar (which is 6 1/2 tbs) So should I not include the sugar from fruit in that?

You should eat fruit. Try to eat fresh fruit, not canned or fruit juice.

But because of the sugar, you should have it in moderation. Some fruit is sweeter than others, so definitely enter it in and see before you decide how much to eat.

It really depends on how you're eating. If you're counting calories alone, then just count the calories for fruit as your normally would. If you're trying to watch your sugar intake, then you need to be mindful of fruit as they're the sugariest natural food.

As k8yk said, fruit juice should be right out -- all the sugar with none of the other stuff like fiber. Dried fruit falls in this category too because its very concentrated. Canned fruit often is done in syrup which is more sugar. Your best bet is frozen (without added sugar, you have to read the bag) or fresh.

Also, you can try sticking with the lower sugar fruits that still pack in the antioxidants. This is going to be stuff like berries and melons.

I guess there's really no pleasing some people. Laughing (Source: http://bit.ly/ekORk0)

Dr. Atkins lists strawberries, raspberries and blueberries as acceptable in OWL (Phase 2), along with canteloupe and honeydew. In looking at the cheat sheet that came in my Atkins for life, apricots are 3.9 carbs, cherries (1/4 cup) 4.8 carbs, and watermelon is 5.6 carbs for 1/2 cup.

Just make sure to check the carb count, measure carefully, and then enjoy! Try it once, one day, and then wait a couple days to see how you react. Some people go along like its nothing, others get a return of sugar cravings or a serious weight loss stall.
