I've been on my diet now for a little over a month and I've lost a grand total of 8lbs. I'm hitting a point where "trying to have faith" is getting very hard; it's getting harder and harder to have faith that if I stick with this it will take me where I want to be. I've always in the past had a lot of trouble with losing weight on other diets, and it seems that this one is no different. I understand that instant results are irrational, but *some* results would give me a bit more faith than what I'm faced with, which is *no* results.
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place because working out harder than I am now simply isn't possible. I broke my ankle in August and while I usually don't have any issues getting around, I can't run or jump so it is extremely hard to get my heart rate up. I am part of a work out group and attend classes, but in the end I feel like I'm just wasting my time with all of this.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm very close to just giving up until I can actually work out.

Just as a quick piece of encouragement, 1 to 2 lbs per week is considered a healthy pace of weight loss...
I live a fairly sedentary lifestyle, desk work 6 days a week. Not much exercise, but I've had fairly good luck with my program. If you'd like to check it out, feel free.

Even if you've hit a plateau, eating healthy is A LOT better than going back to our old lifestyles. Just look at the bright side you are losing weight in a very healthy way

8 pounds is awesome!! Celebrate that accomplishment and keep up the good work. Think of each pound lost as a one pound potato. That is 8 potatoes you are no longer carrying around!! Slow and steady will ultimately lead to the most lasting results, so don't get frustrated and focus on the fact that the scale is headed in the right direction and that is all that matters.

I've been actively working on my diet and exercise plan for the last 6 weeks and I'm down 13 pounds. When I get down on myself and feel like it's just not enough results for all my hard work, I turn the pounds into a percentage. I'm 14% closer to reaching my goal. Another 4-5 six weeks at this pace and I'll be 25% there. If I keep up that pace, I'll meet goal in 1 year. Considering it took me 10 years to put on all this weight, I think that's pretty good. Somehow doing the math makes me feel like I'm really conquering my cravings.

I think 8 lbs is awesome, you are to hard on yourself. It took time to put it on and it takes time to come off. I know we are all anxious to see the scale go down me included but remember we are working on a lifestyle change and that takes time. So chillax smile
and remember your 8lbs lighter....right on!

8 pounds is awesome. 2 pounds a week is ideal.
Just focus on losing it slowly but steadily. You're much more likely to keep it off and it is healthier for you not to yo yo
Shows like The Biggest Loser give people really high expectations- but remember, those people are working out 8 hours a day and eating very, very little. It is not realistic to think you can lose weight that fast and maintain the rest of your life (job, family, etc)
Don't be hard on yourself. Losing is losing. Every 1 pound is a hard won victory

Think about this...when you are at your lowest level of motivation, and when its seems really difficult to keep going, that is when you are at the beginning of a true breakthrough. If you continue down the road you've begun you will see the results. If it were easy everyone would be slim and trim!
Its not easy, but during the times when your motivation is really high and you are rolling along, keep in mind that the difficult days will be there, but that just means you are that much closer to seeing a real change!

8 pounds in a month is pretty great. That is 2 pounds per week. That is the far-end of the range of what you can leave and keep it off.
