I have been on the South Beach Diet for almost 10 months and I have lost 30 pounds. I know I look better and feel great. However, during the last couple of months, I seem to have hit a plateau. I have about 17 pounds left to go and I am not sure what to do to get it off. I have not changed what I eat (i.e. I am not cheating), but I have started exercising the last few months. My clothes feel looser, but I cannot really see the weight coming off. Does anyone have any suggestions to get my last few pounds to come off?

I have 17 pounds left to go too and I've hit a plateau as well...I don't have any advice for you, I've just stayed true to my eating plan and am trying to exercise more. We'll bust through--don't worry!!

Im in the same boat also.. but...
taking my daughter (ImLuuvd) advice to me and reading my new SB diet Recharged, I think we need to focus on the low glycemic food choices AND interval training like the book suggests.
I didn't even know what interval training meant before. Its simply doing some high intensity bursts of exercise and then slowing down to a more normal workout pace then including weight resistance training on the days inbetween.
So Im going to get moving and watch those food choices and see how it goes. Hope we all start down the weight chart again
Hey, I just noticed... I have 18 lbs to go.. funny we are in the same neck of the woods with weight and having hit this plateau

If you started exercising more and you're going down in inches even if your scale isn't moving that means YOU'RE LOSING FAT! That's right! And replacing it with muscle, which burns more fat! You betcha! So, don't stress, just keep doing what you're doing, maybe cut back a few portions of fruit or grain for a few days to see if you can jump-start your loss a bit, but if you're losing inches, that is what counts the most. Don't stress it, eventually the scale will catch up. You just have to trust the system that brought you this far.
Great job!
Love the food that loves you back.
Take it one day at a time!

Also, muscle weighs five times more than fat, so as you put muscle on, it becomes a bit more difficult to show consecutive losses.

I have never done the South Beach diet before, but one thing that tends to help with ANY plateau...change your routine. If you work out consistantly at night...change it to a morning work out. Trick your body. I can't offer suggestions on food because I don't know the diet, but working out is working out. Obviously if you are used to working out at night it is hard to switch it to the morning because you maybe don't want to get up any earlier (which is the problem I have myself), but in going to my meetings with Weight Watchers, when anyone hits a plateau, the biggest suggestions from the group is to change your routine and write EVERYTHING you consume down, even if it is something that is zero calorie and seems insignificant. There is a small chance you may just be missing something! Good luck to all of you! You are all so close to your goal and I wish you all the best!
