I admit, I have not been on this site in months. I received a notice from the site this morning and I thought I would click on here to see what it was all about. This seems to be a nice community, but I did not check in here throughout my weightloss.

So, I thought I would start a new thread.

What do you do once you have lost the weight?

I will let you take this topic wherever you wish, keeping it off, staying healthy, etc.

Im actually struggling a little now that Ive lost all the weight. For the last couple of months I weigh myself everymorning and planned my day around losing weight and reaching goals. Now Ive lost it and feel kinda lost. I want to continue to eat healthy and eat proper porportions but feel a strong urge to keep dieting because it was getting me so much feed back. Soon people will quit telling me how great I look because it will be normal me. That kinda worries me.

Although I have not lost the weight that I want to yet, I do understand the feeling of wanting to keep dieting because of the positive feedback. It sounds to me that weightloss wasn't the biggest struggle you had to deal with, but the struggle is to be happy in your own skin. I struggled with an eating disorder for 6 years and am now finally allowing myself to be happy with who I am. It's very challenging, but that's my new obstacle I am overcoming. I want to lose weight for health reasons now, not to be stick thin. I suggest that your new obstacle to overcome (since you are at your target weight) is to be happy with who you are. Once this happens, you won't have to have the need for positive feedback because you'll be the one feeling good about yourself without anyone telling you that you should (except yourself of course)!

I have been there. that is actually part of why I gained weight again. After I had my daughter I started dieting and exercising hard core, but once I got to my goal weight and even more, and I didn't know when to stop. I was scared of gaining it back, and didn't realize you can eat more at maintenance phases of weight loss than when you are trying to lose, and I kept increasing my workouts more and more and calories less and less, out of fear of gaining, to about 1000 a day with an hour of Taebo and a five mile walk(while nursing mind you!). I eventually got burnt out(and underweight!). When I quit breastfeeding, my appetite increased, and I started bingeing at night due to pure hunger and feeling deprived all the time, a viscious cycle started, and I gained it all back over a few months. Next time I will know better! I am not scared this time because I have this site for daily support and encouragement. Lifelong maintanance is just as important as getting there, and once I am there I can keep it up with a reasonable amount of calories and REASONABLE amounts of exercise.

I hit my goal of 130 set by my doc, lost 43 pounds in 4 months. I did just fine at staying below 130 for about 3 weeks (just to see if I could)though I toyed with how much I can eat and still stay below 130. I saw that more weight was able to come off pretty easily PLUS I still have a lot of flab from losing the weight, so I decided to lower my goal to 120 and to workout to get toned. I do not care at this point what others say to me as I feel I accomplished so much that I feel good enough about myself now. Plus soon I'll be 43 and I think I look pretty decent for my age. I do care about being "fit" though and I know that my heart is still not "fit." I am still on blood pressure meds and other meds so it's time to work on the fitness aspect. It's one thing to lose weight and drop sizes, it's another to be "fit". I dropped 5 sizes and actually don't want to drop another size (that would put me into 3s & 4's (Holy cow), but I do want to replace the flab with muscle and to get heart healthy.
So...now after losing the weight, I am focusing on being "fit". And I am losing more pounds in the process.

Same here! I'm not even considering the last few pounds as necessary. From this point on the focus is totally FITNESS & NUTRITION. The rest will happen on it's own as this becomes a daily routine that I can live with.

So frustrated!
8 pounds in a month is pretty great. That is 2 pounds per week. That is the far-end of the range of what you can leave and keep it off.
