This sounds a lot like emotional eating. I used to have that same problem, but now when I'm browsing through the fridge or pantry, I check my stomach, not my emotions. Am I really hungry? LIke, I'm going to die if I don't eat soon? If I'm not, I run away from the kitchen and start doing something that makes me happy, besides eating. This really does work, and if you're eating filling, fiberous, healthy meals, you shouldn't really need to snack during the day. That's what I'm working on, not snacking. Anyways, hope it helps.Smile

I use to do that too, turns out I was just bored. Instead of picking something up tp eat try doing something and if you want to get the feeling of eating try chewing no sugar gum and drinking water to help you to the next meal. Also try to get a hobby for you spare time.

That was so me a while back. You have to find some things and activities to fill your day and keep you busy to make sure you aren't thinking about food and eating all day and night long. So what do you like to do?

Here's what worked for me. You might want to try to cut out the high carbs in your food plan. Try putting them down (everything white or that contains sugar) for two weeks, and see if your cravings dissipate. Weight Watchers allows high carbs, and if you're addicted to them like I am, it just doesn't work over the long haul. Many people can handle high carbs, I just know I can't. Use your points for fresh veggies, proteins, WHOLE grains, and lower-carb fruits.
Good luck! Cool

I didn't realize how addicted to carbs I was until I started to think about what I eat on the average day. From whats available in stores and everywhere you look its hard to go without.

There's this great book, "Food Addiction, The Body Knows". I don't know if it's still in print, but if you are addicted to carbs, you will recognize yourself in this book! It has taken me a major clear-out of the kitchen and some serious food planning to cut out the white stuff again (I followed the food plan in that book years before South Beach or Adkins was out), and man, did it WORK. I not only lost my cravings and the extra weight, my mind got clearer, I needed less sleep, I had incredible energy...Gave it all up to eat bread again, and well, folks, here I am, needing to lose more than ever before. I can happily say, however, that I have had no white stuff for almost a month.

Just for today, I can refrain from flour and sugar! Cool

Glad to offer the information! The book isn't another diet book, though, it is a book that, if you are a flour/sugar addict, can set you free. It set me free once, I lost about 50 pounds and held a normal weight with little or no varience for 3 blissful years. It's not for everybody, though, because you really DO give up all forms of flour and sugar, and not everybody needs to go to that extent. Only if you really are addicted. If you ask me why I picked up the flour and sugar again, my only response is I thought I could handle just a little... 10 years later, after a honkin' big weight gain and numerous attempts at "normal dieting", I have, for today, surrendered to the fact that I am indeed an addict of flour and sugar, and for today, I've decided to give it up. Cool
