The three excercises hubby showed me are:

1) Basic Crunch - Lay on the floor with your lower legs over a flat bench (you can use a chair or couch or anything to get your lower legs off the floor). Your thighs shoud be perpendicular to the floor (knees pointing at the ceiling). Your arms should be crossed across your chest, do not put your hands behind your head or neck. This will put undo stress on your neck and could cause injury. Slowly lift your shoulders off of the floor and touch your elbows to your knees or get as close as possible, make sure you concentrate on squeezing your muscles throughout the contraction. Then slowly lower your shoulders back to the floor. Repeat for 10-15 reps.

2) Leg Lifts - Lay on your bench or the floor if you don't have a bench. If you are laying on the floor put your hands under the couch or a heavy chair like a recliner to anchor your upper body to the floor. If you are on a bench, make sure your bottom is as close to the end of the bench as you can get, then lay back and grab the bench with both hands above your head. Start the excercise by lifting your feet into the air, bending at your hips, be sure to keep your legs straight. Lift your feet as far back as you can, but not farther back than above your face. Then let your feet drop back towards the floor, making sure to keep your legs straight. Stop your feet when they are about bench level do not let them hit the floor, and lift them back up. Once again, do about 10-15 reps.

3) Seated knee lifts - This exercise can be done on any chair or bench. Sit your bottom as close to the edge of the chair as you can, and lean back slightly, if you need the balance put your hands behind you or on the arms of the chair. Lift your feet about 12 inches off of the floor bend your knees slightly. You should feel your abs tense up at this point, now bring your knees up toward your chest and slightly roll your shoulders toward your knees and concentrate on squeezing your abs. Return to the starting position do not let your feet touch the floor until you do 10-15 reps.

That is it.

He just typed that out, what a sweetheart Very Happy

Great challenge this week. I try to do 100 sit ups every time I exercise but for the past couple of days I haven't been able to exercise because of a bad sunburn. I know, I know it was stupid. But I can't remember the last time I got a sunburn like this, years and years ago. I think tomorrow I'll be able to do some crunches w/out my back hurting so much. I do have a really good abs exercise. Lay on the floor w/bent knees and feet touching the floor(like you are going to do a situp). Next stretch your arms out in front of you and try and lift yourself up in a sitting position. Then roll yourself back down slowly(try keeping your legs glued together). Very hard but you feel those muscles working!

I'm back in the challenge! I was holding steady for a few weeks and then went on vacation. I'm happy to say that I haven't gained any weight but I'm definitly ready to start losing again Smile This week I'm focused on my exercise and my WW plan and so far, everything is going well. As for the question this week, I haven't ever felt discriminated against because of my weight. I've never had any problems professionally. Now, if we're talking about dating and how weight plays into that whole scene then I have some stories to share.

Have a great week everyone! It's good to be back!

Wow, week 9 already! We're chuggin along... We're down 18.11% ! And this week 25 of us have lost 17.4 lbs!!! That's not too shabby at all girls!!

Now for the biggest losers... (Some shouldn't be a surprise.. Laughing )

3. One of our leaders has placed this time! She's lost 29 lbs so far, and is only 21 lbs away from her 50 lbs goal!!! It's NJOYNLF!! Congrats!!

2. Second place is no stranger to the winners circle... Third times a charm, and she's lost 4.4lbs, that's 28.6lbs altogether now!! Lisamac is our second place!!

1. First place should be no surprise as she always ends up here... KazinVegas has come up roses and lost another 6.6 lbs. Thats 67.2 lbs altogether. I'm not sure what this girl is doin, but this is crazy!! Girl, give us a hint or somethin!! At least a picture of before and after!!!

Wow after looking at those numbers and my measly 10 lbs, I got a lot of work to do! Those sit-ups are hard but even if I forget til I'm in bed, I do them before I fall asleep... Gotta get em done! Finish strong this week girls!!!

KazinVegas you are awesome and thank you and your hubby for posting those exercises. Congrats to all of us but espeially to the top three that are leading the way. Like Jan I will have to do a lot to catch up. I am proud of the 14 pounds I lost since I started on the program in December but have a long way to go. Only 3 since I started the challenge because of my backslide. You guys really motivate me.Exclamation

Thank you very much ranchwoman Exclamation
Everyone should be so proud of any loss as we all know this is soooo hard to do. My motivation is my husband and our 4 kids, my youngest is almost 3 so I need to stick around for a long time. We will all get to our goals in the end if we stick at it Exclamation
Let's do it Exclamation Have a great week Smile

Great work everyone.
I have been getting in 50 situps each night but no weight lose this week. Weighed in 2 days early since I am heading out today for a week at the beach.
I will try to continue with the situps and get some long walks on the beach - here is hoping for no weight gainLaughing

Will check in again next weekend - Kate

Wink Checking in early this week as it will be a very early start tomorrow to go to Billings. Wow a good week. Lost the 4lbs I gained last week and then another pound, did 1900 minutes of exercise and lost 2 inches off my waist and I didn't even do situps. Must be all the bending in the garden while weeding and picking. So I have zero situps to report but I will keep working in the garden. Cool I am still trying to break 200 before I leave for New Zealand on August 26th. It will be close unless I duplicate this last week, then it will be easy. Gotta be carfeul because I can't afford a whole new wardrobe for the trip. I have some thinner clothes in the closet that might work.Smile So thank you all for your support and all your hard work. Together we can do this.

Haven't had time, energy, or motivation this week to weigh in, so I'm going to take a pass and leave my stats the same. My grandpa went back into the hospital on Tuesday with a silent heart attack and had a minute of lung failure, and the same day we found out that in order to get any funding for school Steve would have to quit his job, and then they would only give us 15% of tuition. So it is going to be VERY tight to manage Disneyland and paying for his school this year. But I am determined!!!

I've been trying to make healty choices and watch what I'm eating without actually pointing - I know I've gone over sometimes but in general am OK.

Good luck to all!!!

Good Monday morning to all! Smile

I missed all of my FS buddies while I was away! The mission trip was totally successful! God blessed us day after day!

I still managed to lose 5.4lbs. in the last 3 weeks! YAY ME! Surprised It was hard to stay on my diet while I was out of the country, but I managed to keep my weight about the same for those 11 days! It makes me not so scared of maintenance now!

Here's to a great week for all of you! Beat the scale! Beat the scale! Beat the scale! Mad

I'm having a total brain fart... Confused
Well, it seems like most people really enjoyed the sit-ups. Unfortunately I lost my motivation mid-week. But good news is the hubby and I are finally moving out of the MIL's (mother in law) house. Hallelujah!!! So I'm a little distracted working over time every minute I can, plus trying to be a good wife, plus trying to be a good step-mom, daughter in law, daughter to my mom.. (She just had a heart attack this week) So I'm a little lost at the moment... But this is life apparently Laughing And I'd rather do it being a thinner person!! Very Happy
Week 11 Challenge!
So back to the challenge. I'm thinking this week we should continue on with the sit-ups, and also incorporate some squats into it. I found this for proper ways to do squats. And of course to make it harder add hand weights.... Lets try to do at least 2 set of crunches, and 2 sets of squats (pick your number) per day. Very Happy

Form Pointers: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Slowly lower your body as though you are 'sitting' in a chair until your thighs are parallel with the ground. Keeping the weight in your heels, push yourself up slowly until you're back where you started.
Key points: don't allow
your knees to extend over your toes and keep your torso tight and erect.

2-3 sets of 12 to 16 reps with medium to heavy weight

The gain I have been expecting was today. Surprisingly I am not suicidal about it. I will get back on track without excuses and hopefully I will get it off by next week. I started out pretty good with the sit-ups (crunches) but kind of forgot about it after the first couple of days so this week I will do better. I have been walking to work for a few days (truck broke down). It looks like everyone has done really well even those that took vacations. Mine is next week and I am determined to lose.
