My weight loss was going awesome the first week of the diet. I lost a pound a day and then I discovered atkins shakes and bars. I probably ingesting 3 a day besides my regular meals. I work in a busy post op floor, sometimes hard to get a lunch and keep on track for breakfast lunch and dinner to be divided up equally so I eat these snacks every two hours while on the run. I keep them in my pocket and the milk shake in the refrigerator where I get pt snacks. so when I am getting something for the patient I take 5 minute in the kitchen and drink my shake for energy. I truly believe these habits, although good for me and better than candy bars and bagels, etc..., are doing me a disservice to my weight loss efforts. I am not gaining but I am not losing. So today I decided I am not buying the atkins bars for a couple weeks but I will do the shakes. I discovered the Vanilla shake is great for creamer in my coffee and i can get at least 6 to 8 cups of coffee out of it. does anyone have any suggestions. I truly thought you can eat as much protein as you want on this diet. I can't just stick to 3 times a day. what do I eat in between while I am at work and on the run that is convenient. I also put a little baggy of pork rinds in my lab coat. but those have lots of sodium and I tend to retain. Help, suggestions. I would appreciate it. I post on here but I never get feedback.

I just took a quick look at your diet calendar. I have heard that the shakes and bars do stall a lot of people. What you should keep higher than your protein is fat. This is a high fat diet. I try to keep mine around 70% fat 20% protein and 10% carbs. I try to eat a lot with cream cheese and heavy whipping cream. I recently found mascarpone, a lot like cream cheese only with no carbs. Buttermilk ranch with veggies is also good for the fat content. Maybe try coconut oil. I just found this great recipe that I'm trying to submit in the cook book. It's a half a cup of coconut oil, half a cup of heavy whipping cream and 1-2 tbs of baking cocoa. I used in my coffee with some truvia and it was awesome. And it gave me a boost of fat. I hope I've helped some, if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Why not keep peeled hard boiled, slim jim's and string cheese in the fridge instead of the bars and shakes? You can bake the eggs in the oven in large batches and they are super easy to peel. Even if you don't want to give them up completely you could switch it up and see that helps prompt some loss. You could also do celery with cream or crustless quiche cups.

Hmmm, part of weight loss (i.e. Less calories than activity) should make you feel like you have no energy. Therefore if you are adding in bars and shakes you are probably not in a caloric deficit and therefore not losing weight. Far better to fool your body into thinking it is getting something (big glass of water and some celery) and forgo all the extra calories.

I fully understand how you feel, I was doing the same when I first started Atkins was sooo much easier. I fell off the diet, restarted 2 days ago, so far down a few pounds. I will allow mtself 1 bar a day and 2 shakes. Hang in there! I shared my diet with a friend last year about just eating healthy, seen her yesterday down about 75 pounds!!! So many people are doing great on this diet, WE CAN DO IT TOO!

I disagree that weight loss should make you feel like you have no energy.
When I lost 30 pounds I ate well, and had the most energy I've ever had in my life.

I just restarted Atkins, I had been on it before and lost over 40 pounds. Last time I found that the first week or two I had very little energy but after that I never felt better. I think your body just needs to adjust to burning fat instead of carbs for energy.

I think the bars are the problem for you, they do slow you down. I would use maybe one bar for a desert or snack once a day. Drink lots of water and keep hard boiled eggs on hand for snacks. You can buy them already boiled at certain stores, easy and convenient! Don't forget the most important part, your fiber. Veggies provide it and help you not to get constipated. Constipation can also make you think your not losing.

I think bars and shakes have actually had a negative effect on me too. When I eat the bars I want to eat more bars and I want more chocolate and sugar. The shakes seem to work out better- I never thought about using them in coffee thats a great idea! I was using unsweetened almond milk at first then started using heavy cream and davinci sugarfree french vanilla syrup.

Hi Shacancan.. I too am in the Induction phase. I tried the bars and tried my 1st shake this morning.
My 2nd week in and I notice that I have to regulate how many bars I consume.. So far I have had no more than 2 -3 bars in a week (and I still think that's too much) but since I am on the go alot I have to have something on hand because I don't want to fall off the wagon. LOL LOL..
The shake actually was delicious and I think I will try the shake in my coffee (never thought of that either)Thanks for the idea. Hope you have a great day.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
I'm reading this while eating some absolutely delightful fresh melon for breakfast. If the melon isn't soft enough on its own you could add it to a fruit smoothie.

Even though fat doesn't count in Atkins, it can cause you to gain or not lose weight if you consume too much. Be careful of over eating this nutrient. ie: cream, cream cheese.
