Hi All, I am a newbie on here and am really enjoying it. I have had diabetes, Type I, for 36 years. Slowly I have become disabled and now have a hard time walking. Kinda lost control when I had open heart surgery and started gaining weight. At 50 years old I weighed about 160. Now 60 and weigh 260. I am trying to diet using Vi-Shape Shakes. In a week lost 8 lbs. But I can't exercise. Anyone with similar problems, started a group called "DISABLED DIABETICS". Adjust shots hard. Low & High sugar levels.

Hi linyvonne - just a quick note to wish you good luck. I've read several times that weightloss success is 80% diet and 20% exercise so don't worry too much about your current reduced abilities.

You might want to check out Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution book. From everything I have read, it is the bible for controling diabetes. He is a type 1. http://www.diabetes-book.com/
