Hello everybody
I´ve just joined today, and was wondering one thing: How much do I burn by cooking? Right now I´ve my cooking time as standing, which is 47 calories in 20 minutes (2.0 METs). But is it a lot more? Please help me, I´m trying to have a perfectly correct exercise diary, and since I´m in fond of cooking and have vacation from school, some days I´m literally spending a few hours on making dishes like Coq au Vin, Lasagna with homemade Pasta, and Beef Wellington for dinner, and sometimes I bake bread/cakes (sometimes I do even make rye bread, which is popular where I come from, and that takes around 3-4 days of preparation + 4 hours in the kitchen on the day i bake it).

Most people on here seem to agree that the Fat Secret exercise diary is extremely generous in the carlies burned estimation; a lot of us will only include sleeping, resting and then any deliberate exercise such as a brisk walk, weight lifting, yoga, etc.
I started my time on FS listing every activity (desk work, sitting, standing etc) but found that the numbers in/numbers out worked out much closer to the weight loss I was seeing when I stopped handling it that way. Just my $0.02, but you might consider tracking and observing carefully to see if you feel the same.
Good luck!

When I saw the title of this post, the first thing that came to mind is "that depends on how bad of a cook you are". LOL. Sorry, I have a slanted view on things

Anyone using the Fitbit Flex or similar devices?
I have a bodymedia fit and love it. It really helps keep you motivated and focused. It does allow you to sync with a heart rate monitor, but I find it has been a good tool regardless.
