I started the Simple Diet (James Anderson) as an effort to lose weight simply in March and it has worked, so far 23 pounds (40-50 to go depending on what size I get to). At any rate hoping to find others in the same or similar boat. I have three kids, am a SAHM (recently stopped working), and love my pets and my husband
I practice yoga daily and do cardio for some extra fat burning. Hope to meet some fabulous people soon!
Keep in mind my starting weight as of March 2012 was 198! I just didn't want to record it, so depressing......now empowering to know I can lose!

Hi SerenityDiva,
I am also a SAHM with three children. I also suffer with plantar fasciitis which makes exercise very painful. Congrats on your weight loss. Your post definitely encouraged me. I have over 100lbs to loose so buddies to share a supportive weight loss journey with.

Hi Chasidy!
Basically it's 3 meal replacements a day. He says use shakes for satiety, and I've found for me they do fill me up more than bars. They should be about 100-200 calories and 10-26 grams of protein and 0-6 grams of fat (bars should be 100-200 calories, 6-20 grams of protein and 0-5 grams of fat).
Then you have 2 frozen entrees a day from 140-300 calories, 10-25 grams of protein and 0-9 grams of fat. You can substitute soup, but the protein is hard to come by and the ratios there are 100-200 calories, 10-20 protein grams and 0-5 of fat.
Unlimited fruits and veggies. If you get hungry and fruits and veggies ARE NOT satisfying, add an entree or a shake instead of cheating.
Obviously he wants you not to add butter or sauces to things such as salad and veggies, and then he has 2 other stages you go to once you lose I believe it was 40% of your weight.
Do 20 minutes of additional exercise a day, so if you are already doing say an hour, add 20 minutes roughly to that, 5 days a week. I can't remember the exact exercise quote right now.
It costs me roughly $75 a week to do this at the most (usually $50 because I buy Muscle Milk powdered shake every other week about as I'm lactose intolerant and all the others made me flare up).
Also drink plenty of water.
I've been using a lot of Mrs. Dash no or low sodium seasonings to spice up veggies.
Another trick is to add your veggies to your frozen entree as there is usually more than ample sauce to add in, like with some pasta dishes I add spinach and it's yummy or squash too.
Hi Angie! Plantar fasciitis can be horrible! I had a steroid injection and it made it worse for months, I was miserable. I'm finally getting better (diagnosed in 2010) but OMG pain. It's hard having so much to lose because it seems like "forget it!" but I always try to aim for 5-10 pound goals and remember if I don't do something TODAY where will I be 12 months from now? I'm so short so it was a shocker to see myself in photos LOL.

Hi - I am a WIWASHM (Wish I Was A Stay at Home Mom) (so unfortunately full time at a desk) but I hit the same type of realization when I shopped for a dress for my daughters wedding and had to go up 4 sizes from where I really thought I was. Then when the wedding pics came back I was aghast at the fat woman walking my daughter down the aisle. I started dieting the next week (mid april 2012) and was coming along VERY VERY SLOWLY - I week with a 1 or so down and then back up. Then in May I started the Atkins diet. I have lost 26.5 lbs so far and feel great. I think I have finally figured out the low carb lifestyle and believe it is really the healthiest choice. I just bought the book Wheat Belly and it makes me even more sure of the choice to limit carbs. At any rate - would love to be your buddy on this journey.

Great doing on the weight loss Rondakay! I think Atkins as done by the book works. I've done it and I think people always think its about fat and cheese and meat,,,so not true! I almost bought Wheat Belly, but opted for a different book, as I love reading about new findings with health and diet.

@ inhisimage , I thought I would share this with you I also suffer from heals spur and have been taking NSAIDS, but I really would love to come off them. I recently got to observe a new procedure called a cobaltation topaz procedure, it basically heal spur surgery it's outpatient then a boot, here is the link, insurance should cover it

@SerenityDiva, I feel in love with Atkins but found it very restricting since I just don't like many of the foods on induction I was eating chicken and broccoli every day then I came across a new book called the metabolism makeover and I m hooked! It's similar to Atkins with a few different rules... My weight has just been melting off! I got it for cheap too on
www.half.com
, there's also a version of the book which includes a cookbook, I bought both.

I try to drink shakes when I remember, for me it's extremely hard to remember to eat or here lately the problem has been anytime I smell food or start to eat something I get so sick I either can't touch it, or shortly after feel like I'm going to be sick.
Drinking Shakes doesnt upset me to much, I use teh Curves shakes, (since I joined them not to long ago and was there) They have 120 calories, 1G Fat, 12G Carbs (5 fiber,2 sugar), and 15G protein, without the milk, it says to add skim milk but since Im lacking in calories I use 1% for just the added 120 calories.

Chasidy thanks for the information
I think I've seen the Metabolism Miracle at Borders, well when there was a Borders LOL. And I'll check out the other link after lunch.
How is everyone doing today? So far so good, I was so tempted to get a burger and fries as I just got my younger 2 kids back after they were vacationing with my dad and stepmom--but I was a good girl and am having a salad and some Amy enchilada thing, which is a little higher than normal for calories, but by 100 and I already worked out so meh whatever I do my best.
Hi Kedria! I wonder what's going on with the smell food thing? I know when I bake (cookies and cakes generally) I HATE the smell of them after awhile and I think if I worked as a baker, I'd be skinny because I can't stand to eat stuff after smelling it all day. I wonder if it's similar?

I can't say it's from smelling them all day or even often. Im not around food at work or even at home really. Generally I eat when my husband says he's hungry. But for a while (the last few days have been horribly worse) smelling anything or even tasting food in general turns my stomach. Not sure why. It doesnt help much when you try to talk to your Friends or husband and they all get upset and say things that are not helpful.
I have a very good friend who has been very supportive of me and he trys to help.
And any time I bring it up with my Dr it's like they dont believe me or think I am making excuses for not losing as much as they wanted. Yet I go at least 4 times a week to curves and I work out at home when I cant go. Which logically yes it makes sense that if Im rarely topping 600 calories a day I should be losing a lot of wt quickly but I just don't. Only cooked/solid food seems to bother me, the shakes dont upset my stomach to much.

Gosh I hope you find some respite soon. I was thinking and both my daughter and I get that way for short periods of time, usually in the summer. I hope you feel better soon. I hate it when it seems like I can't lose weight too!

@ktred12, thank you for the wonderful compliment... I have been a yo yo dieter for years the last summer I reached my heaviest at 260... Last Aug. I started Nursing school, I vowed that I was going to lose no matter what, it became easily as I learned how our bodies work on a cellular level.. No matter what you call your diet. We all know deep down inside the way we should eat ( no processed foods, fresh veggies ect) and what everyone calls exercise, when in reality it's just not leading a sedentary lifestyle. I believe a little bit of anything won't hurt but a lot of anything will kill you. Tuesday I will walk down the isle in my pinning ceremony 70 lbs light almost one year ago.. I make mistakes and sometimes I do eat what I'm not soposse to but were human. It's when we make a conscious effort, AND stick with it, is when we see a change.
@serinitydiva- I hope you do get a chance to read it, it's truly inspiring, as for the website any one who needs to but a book that's where you should check first I bought almost all of my school books for 3-10$ when at the college bookstore they run100-200$!

@kedria, what kind of foods are you eating when you try? And how long has it been bothering you... At 600 calories you've probably put your body into starvation mode, that is probably why you not seeing much weight loss... There are a lot of foods, foods that I like and really want to eat, and when I take a bite or two I literally get so nausated I have to throw it away and go brush my teeth!

Honestly it's basically anything. And I haven't had much of an appetite for months, probably 8 or 9+. Monday I tried to have a chicken salad with nothing else on it, took two bites and couldn't eat anymore. it just make me so sick trying. Nothing for the rest of that day, my husband brought home a salad from taco bell and when I opened it, I had to put the lid back on it, or I was going to throw up. Didn't try on tuesday and never got hungry. at about 2am wed morning I made myself eat hotdog, but I got so sick I ended up having to take medicine I have for Nausea which puts me to sleep.
And I know about the starvation mode, it's why I have been trying to get my calories up to at least 1200 daily, but it always seems I fall back into not eating without even realizing it.
