There are a million threads on this topic, so I hope you will read through those instead of continuing another..... Use the forum search option to look for them - search for 'workout music' or similar things. Here are some threads to check out:

workout music

What do you workout to?

Wanted! Great exercise tunes!

Exercise music - what are you listening to?

Any good tunes?

Your favorite workout music

Someone who is busier than you is working out right now.
There will come a day when you can no longer do this. Today is not that day.

Some of my favorites are:
Paralyzer by Finger Eleven
Sexy Bitch by David Guetta
Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO
Right Round by Flo Rida and Kesha
I know you want me by Pitbull

I tend to prefere the club music with a good beat, I find it keeps me distracted from the workout but helps to keep my pace up.

"This is 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain and 100% reason to remember the name"

-- "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor

I almost always workout on the treadmill - mostly fast walking - my old knees can't take running any more and shoulder tendonitis and sciatica keep me from lifting or squating. Getting old sucks Smile

I listen to an eclectic mess of new and old - I setup my list so that the beat paces are in intervals - Queen, Michael Jackson - "Jam" and "They don't really care about us, Cage The Elepant (Ain't no rest for the wicked), lady gaga, Green Day, I warm up to Zombie by the Cranberries, etc

But the Fort Minor song really got me exercising again - I listened to it over and over to push through my first few sessions...then it got easier and now I have all sorts of songs.

I tend to go for psy-trans like Infected Mushroom...maybe some Tiesto for working out. On the circuit training days, lifting days, or slow stretching days, I like gothic or industrial fusion like Collide.
If you can spend years beating yourself up mentally and remain standing, you can HANDLE a few muscle cramps and cravings. A little pain has NOTHING on feeling insecure. Remember that next time you wanna quit. You can do this!

I like Linkin Park (fave band) mostly for working out. The whole Meteora album works well, so does Minutes to Midnight.

I rock out... the heavy drums and fast beats serve to up my tempo.I get amped up and run or bike harder without even realizing it! A couple faves....Butthole Surfers - Who was in my room last night / Metallica - Fuel / Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country / Linkin Park - Faint / Alter Bridge - Metalingus / Prodigy - Smack my bitch up / Nine Inch Nails - Head like a hole

Stay the course, stay on point, stay motivated, dedicated, and you won't be stopped. Discipline. Perseverance. Focus. Dig deep and you will be victorious.

JessWhatINeeded - Do you have more than one work out play list? That ingenious! I have a workout and a yoga list.. but different lists for different activities is so smart! Why didn't I think of that before? I have definitely noticed that some music is better on the elliptical or treadmill, while walking or weights would be better suited for other music.
