I know what that feels like. If I'm happy, I eat. If I'm sad, I eat, but more. Especially if I'm bored, I eat. I don't know what to do. What do you do to keep from doing this? I need help.
Thank you.

I'm right there with you redhead5839. When I'm bored or especially depressed, I eat. I have a history of depression and with all my other health issues that I've had, the doctors are a little surprised on how perky I am. But they don't see the eating battle I have. That is the ONE thing I can control. But trying to keep busy helps, gum is my constant savior. When I feel like munching and know I should, I stick a piece of spearmint or mint something in my mouth. I helps because who wants to eat when you have a clean feeling mouth? Plus mint kills the taste of stuff lol. Little things that you do, can make a huge difference. The trick is finding one that works for you.

Oh I'm right there with you! Only I find that I have NO appetite when I'm depressed. I find my biggest problems are eating when I'm bored or eating when I'm stressed. The trick is to find something to replace these activities. I've only lost 10 pounds, fell of the wagon due to stress and gained 4 back, so maybe I'm not one to give advice... BUT, I've found that when I'm...
Stressed - I try to exercise instead of eat. Something very physical which will allow me to get my aggression out. I've found that I enjoy the batting cages. And I'm currently looking into either a kick-boxing class or purchasing a punching bag.
Bored - Exercise again, but it's mainly developing some kind of hobby or something you enjoy doing which will keep your mind off food. When we're bored, eating is something we ENJOY doing and it takes little effort on our part, which is part of why it's such a big problem. Find ANYTHING to do other than eat. Clean the house, go for a walk, take up a hobby, or just get out of the house and go for a drive to get away from the pantry and jam to your favorite tunes.

Thank you, everyone, for letting me know that I am not out there alone! It's been especially hard these last two months with new health issues coming along. But I am trying to keep upbeat. I just wish I could get a head of steam on to exercise. But I guess I will just wake up, maybe tomorrow, and say that's it, I'm doing it and not waiting any longer. Have a great weekend everyone and thanks again for giving me encouragement.
