so contrary to my username i'm not on atkins i learned alot about how carbs and sugars affect you when i was on it and that has been very valuable to my weight lose goals but i decided to do my own thang. so this is just generally what i've been doing

one carb/day
one fruit/day
one protein/day
any and as much veg as i want/day
and water, coke zero and coffee no cream nor sugar

now compared to how i had been eating i feel i'm healthier but just wanted to know how you all felt about this and if you had suggestions for ways i can make it healthier

I am not sure how to respond to your question, without a few questions.

One carb, one fruit, one protein, etc, does not tell me much about the big picture.
1. fruits and veggies = carbs.
2. How much are you eating of each category?
3. What is your total intake in a typical day; i.e. total calories, fat, carbs, and protein? On the surface, I would guess your intake of protein and calories is inadequate for healthy weight loss, let alone general health.
4. Most important, are you satisfied with this diet? Are you getting the results you want?

My only suggestion is to try and eliminate the Coke Zero. The artificial sweetners can present more challenges to losing weight than you think. Will fool your brain into thinking it is something sweet, and then when you don't get the sugar, your brain will signal that you are hungry. I have also heard that caffeine can slow down weight loss for some. I don't know much about that, but it is another area you might want to tweak.

A bad moment does not have to be a bad day, bad week, or a sign that you can't do this. It is a moment. Just that. Pause and go back to the person who really wants to be healthier and happier.

What's worked for me is protein based meals. Fish, poultry, seafood, or beef coupled with veggies (avoid corn and carrots; excess carbs), and lots of water. I use sour cream, salsa, and a moderate amount of cheese. Protein is filling, so I dont feel the need to count calories. For me, if I keep my net carbs under 100g and keep my sodium intake under 4000mg, with my protein amount at my weight in grams, I feel I've had a good food day. I'm active when it comes to exercise, so I need to have at least 1g per pound. For less active, I hear .8 is good. Remember, protein is the building block for all cells in the body and supports, maintains, and builds muscle tissue, so don't skimp out on that macronutrient. Good fats are not the enemy, but fat coming from processed foods are.

More protein, more fiber, more water. Less carbs, less sodium. Fruits in the first half of the day. Have a small snack in between main meals. Spice up your meals, make it taste good, but stick to the basics. If one is always eating bland food, that's a recipe for failure.

I also use La Tortilla's low carb high fiber wraps. I've also found Dreamfield's pasta brand. They claim 5 net carbs which sounds OUTSTANDING, but I have yet to do any research on it.

Stay the course, stay on point, stay motivated, dedicated, and you won't be stopped. Discipline. Perseverance. Focus. Dig deep and you will be victorious.
