Hey all. My first post, but have been using Fat Secret since last spring.
I have a pet peve about what I CONSTANTLY see from nutitional data entered by others.
My peeve is, if something is not listed on a label, do NOT enter a 0 for its value.
Just because a label does not LIST cholesterol or potassium it does NOT mean the product does not contain any. Same goes with the various fats or any of the other data points this sites nutritional data base has.
Please, ONLY enter what the nutriton label shows.
Thanks!
Mike

Several of the fields are required, so you can't enter the item without putting something in that place. So that's a reason why you may see zero, not sure what people can do to et around it. If you know the value, then I'm sure others would appreciate you updating it.

Only macro nutrients, that is fat, carbs and protein as well as total calories and serving size are required! Ducksoup is right on this one. I Have to enter all my items manually (I live in Norway) and I only enter calories + macronutrients because that is all I need, but I would not put anything on 0 unless it said so on label.

Could you also list and track fiber content? I've got diabetes and would like to increase my fiber intake to help stabilize my blood sugar levels. This would be extremely useful to me.

Why would anyone not list all the information available to you if your updating a PUBLIC product.. As Bernfarr says.. other information is important to other people.. I am very angry right now as I have been using this site for 2 weeks and assumed that the numbers are correct, now I find out that that 0 might just mean someone was too lazy or whatever? Just cuz it wasnt important to them. Please people, if your gonna list a item.. and for whatever reason cant be bothered to help all your fellow dieters.. save it as a private food.. I cant beleieve I just waisted 11 days of tracking carbs to try and get my doses of insulin right.. NOw I guess I will have to go back thru all my diary entries and check the nutritional values against oh I dont even know.. maybe actual companies will have that info on their page.. Hope so... Wow!!

I have always simply googled "how much cholesterol is in ______?"
I know, Google doesn't know everything, but you can usually find a consistant answer. It is better to have an estimate than to just put down 0. Cholesterol and sodium may be insignificant to some, but are so vital to those with certain health issues.

Do you like cottage cheese or does it make you cringe?
It depends. I can't stand eating it with fruit or anything sweet, like most people do.

COCONUT WATER
I love coconut water & prefer Harmless Harvest raw coconut water. It's more expensive, but worth it, I think. I get it at Whole Foods or a local health food store.
