I'm interested in water pills too! If you take them and lose the fluid, when you stop do you just start retaining again?

they are not helpful for fat loss and if they are neeeded for other reasons they should be taken under medical supervision because they can be dangerous if self-prescribed.
An healthier way to stop retaining liquids is to lower sodium intake

Yes, if you stop taking them you start retaining fluid again. They don't help you lose weight-- it's just temporary.

I take prescription diuretics. A couple of years ago my doctor suggested that I stop taking them, so I did. Within a few days I'd gained so much water that I couldn't walk across the room without being out of breath-- I felt like I was drowning! I had to sleep sitting up, because I couldn't breathe if I was flat in bed. I called my doctor, and was back on the diuretics ASAP.

There are ways to wean yourself off of them, I'm sure, but I wouldn't start taking diuretics unless you have either short-term bloating, or a medical reason for doing so. You're not losing weight... you're just lending it to the pills until you stop taking them.

If you want to get rid of extra fluid, drink more water.

You cannot take them on a regular basis without medical supervision, you can seriously mess up with your health. You are depleting yourself of electrolytes. If you are bloated and/or there is a medical reason you can take them, but not to lose weight. Your are just dehydrating yourself. If you retain to much fluid without any specific reason for that, it might be because your potassium level is too low and out of balance with sodium/calcium. Try to eat more vegetables rich in potassium. When you eat processed foods, they are rich in sodium and deplete you of potassium which causes you to retain even more fluid. Protein is natural diuretic, this is why you lose a lot of water weight during first weeks of low carb diets. But please remember that weigh loss does not mean fat loss. It is not weight that you should be losing, it should be fat.

And sorry, but don't drink more water. You are doing exactly the same thing, deplete yourself of electrolytes and cause same deficit of potassium, which makes you retain water. You only need to drink enough water to stay hydrated. Better cut on anything processed and increase vegetables high in potassium (vegetables, not supplements).

I have been on fluid pills for 3 months due to a health issue. I finished my subscription 2 days ago. I have not cheated on my diet, but I have gained 7.2 lbs in those 2 days!!!! How do I get rid of it?

Talk to your doctor about this! Likely it will (mostly) go away on its own, but not completely. Cutting way back on sodium may help.

What the diuretics did is temporarily cause your body to retain less water-- your weight was artificially low because of them. Once you stop taking the pills, your body bounces back to your "normal" level of hydration.
