I remember loving to read success stories when I was losing weight. I lost 60 pounds and have kept it off for a long time now. HOW?
1. I exercised by walking an hour 5 days a week.
2. stayed off the scale and focused on habits i was changing
3. eating when i was hungry-stopping when satisfied
4. eating more fruits and vegetables
5. Did not buy my problem foods
6. kept a real positive and determined attitude.
7. read my SHAPE MAGAZINE AND COOKING LIGHT
8. stayed away for the white stuff that stimulates your appetite
In spite of the statistics that suggest most people dont keep their weight off, if it is a lifestyle you will keep it off.
You can do it one day at a time. I published a book Dr Kathy's Health and Weight Loss Guide. (not sure i am supposed to share that part)

That's cool! And you even wrote a book! Hmmmm, that's starting to give me some ideas! I have a 2-part success story:
when I became what I call "Anna Nicole Smith" depressed & gained 80 lbs. in 1 yr. I went from 140-220 lbs. bc I stopped exercising and started eating whatever I wanted- mostly junk food. How I lost it: the exact same way in reverse. Stopped eating junk food and began exercising again. The eating part was much easier for me to cahange than the exercising part bc I was so fat and uncomfortable, but I did not let that stop me. I started out walking and some moderate weight training, and as the weight came off I gradually began to feel more comfortable. The more comfortable I felt, the more exercising I felt like doing, until I was back in full swing again at my previous weight of 140. That was 10 yrs. ago. During this time I did so much research on effective exercises- both cardio and weight training, as well as nutrition, that I decided to purchase some study materials and text books and became certified in fitness instructing and personal training.
All my life I've wanted to lose those "last few stubborn lbs". I work out pretty vigorously most days of the week, so I knew that was not the issue. I ate mostly healthy as well, so I just came to accept the fact that I have a lot more muscle than super-skinny women do, so I must be at a comfortable weight for me. I looked KILLER, so I wasnt much concerned about weighing 125 lbs with my 5'6 1/2" frame- just always thought it would be nice to. I never dreamed I'd ever weigh 120-ish without having some form of an eating disorder but then I discovered this website and it changed everything! Logging all my food intake and seeing how many calories I was actually consuming really opened my my eyes! I went from 144-126 in about 2 months. I actually decided that 126 was a bit
thin for me & have set a maintenance goal of 129, which has been surprisingly easy for me to maintain- as long as I continue to count all my calories throughout the day and make sure my eating calories are always less than my exercise calories.
