Smart choices I made this week...

1) I had three
bites
of Mom's b-day cake, instead of three pieces.
2) I made the choice to make one evening visit to the fridge grabbing red/green/yellow peppers instead of making repeat visits resulting in frustration over what I want to grab and devour, but shouldn't.
3)Here's the kicker: While volunteering in my community, a candy merchant came by with samples of home-made sponge candy. This is one of my all time favorites and highly addictive for me. I decided to kindly decline, knowing there was birthday cake coming later. It was a killer turn down, (very emotional for me) but I felt like a stronger woman after I had a time of pouting in my head and moved on.
Justice at the scale: down 1.6 this week.

Congratulations on your good choices! In my sons school they give "good choice tickets" for students who make good choices. They are then redeemable for stickers, erasers, pencils and other fun goodies. Maybe you should reward yourself with something fun...and non food related of course. My reward this week for staying on track is going to be a new bottle of nail polish
luv all those new spring colors! It's not weigh in day yet for me, but I couldn't resist peeking this morning...down 2 lbs after the weekend woohoo!....two more days till weigh in.

I think I will reward myself! I've been wanting a New Wave Oven - maybe we'll save that for when I hit goal. I know - a new basket for my bike!
CONGRATS on the 2 lbs!!!

asagohan: That is so great! It's always good when you can figure that out before you've regretted the splurge. Realizing something is not worth the points after the fact is the pits.I was very thankful when Krispy Cream left my hometown. I'm proud to say I've never had one. However, my boss provides the staff with the top donut in town every Friday - Paula's in Kenmore NY. They smell divine. Again - all these years and I've yet to try one. Have a great program day tomorrow!

This is so inspiring to read. It can be SO hard to turn down certain things, and we can get upset beyond the point on what is reasonable when we can't have it our way. But once we're past the pouting, we get this amazing feeling of accomplishment that makes us SO much stronger. It's oh so worth it.

Sponge candy is a sinful delight, which I'm discovering is unique to Western NY.

Congrats! That is a great acomplishment! I was asked to bring dessert to a function tonight. I made a salted-caramel double chocolate peanut butter pie!! Yes it is as sinful and AMAZING as it sounds. I am "proud" that I did not take one lick of any of the ingredients while making it. That is a feat in itself and I end up with caramel, chocolate and pb all over my hands. Not one lick! Now lets see if I can get through the evening w/out diving in face first!

Oh Leslie, that is SO hard! Good job
We had birthday cupcakes in my classroom for a child, and as I was passing them out taking the wrappers off I got frosting ALL over my hands. After I finished, I went to the sink and washed it all off. Was a good moment.

Analogue: For me it tastes like a little bit of heaven - there's just no eating a "little bit" though. My sister makes and sells it for additional income. She'll send over light chocolate, dark chocolate, orange chocolate sponge candy - last time I turned it away. She should know better. Should you ever get up toward Western NY, I'd say drop in at Watsons Candies and try a piece. Maybe it won't do to you what it does to me.

I'm from Canada and you can get it pretty much everywhere here. It tends to be more popular just plain, without the chocolate coating. And we also call it Sponge Toffee. To describe the flavor, it's kind of a burnt sugar/caramel taste with a salty edge to it (from the addition of baking soda that makes its foamy texture). I think it's the texture that makes it unique, though. To compare it to something else, I'd say it was a lot like spray foam insulation! In texture... not the taste! LOL.
IT NEVER GETS EASIER - YOU JUST GET BETTER.

For me, a lick of frosting would hurt because I wouldn't stop there. Plus, it feels good having self control, and that gives me a boost emotionally.
