Hello FS budies! I just thought I'd post a little informational link regarding a simple way you could help save someone's life. Ever consider registering to become a bone marrow donor?

Bone Marrow Registry

It's simple, quick, easy, & non-invasive to sign up! All you do is send away for the kit, swab your mouth, and send it back...then sit and wait to see if you can save a life. Smile

I joined a couple years ago when a friend's brother-in-law had leukemia. Now another friend's mother-in-law is fighting the same battle. Only about 1 out of 540 people on the registry ever get called upon. (I haven't yet) 70% of people who need a bone marrow transplant don't have a genetic match in their family. That's where the National Registery comes in - helping find an unrelated donor who is a close enough match.

There's information here with some FAQs. Seriously look into it. Thanks.

I did this last year after a coworker told me about it. Quick and easy and it could save a life. I think they are especially always looking for minorities and people of mixed ethnicity, since there are fewer of them in the registry and it makes them less likely to be able to find a match.
