Question about spouse and craving!

Spoiler - if you get cravings by reading about sweets, stop reading now
Hello - just copy pasting from my journal since I really want some feedback on this!
My wife is my diets worst enemy - after my self ofcourse.
I've had talks with my wife a couple of times about her saying "Hmm I could really go for something sweet just about now".
Since frankly, most of the time, I don't want candy.. I rarely think about candy and eating it .. when I eat candy, it's an "impulse" buy on the register, when they place the candy right infront of you it can be hard to resist unless you really set your mind to it!
But when my wife says, that thing she says, I do want candy!
This can be really annoying since, like you know when you get the urge to eat something and you try and silence the urge it can take about 1 hour or more...
1 hour or more thinking about candy and how much you want it :/ it can really bring you down.
Anyone else here having a similar problem with your spouse ruining your diets (not on purpose ofcourse) ?
What did you do ?
Hopefully I didn't create a urge to eat candy for you, just by typing this
best regards,

Have you (nicely) talked to her about this? I had the same problem with hubby and I finally told him that it sucked when he told me about his craving because then I couldn't get it out of my head!
After all- our spouses aren't mind readers!

Yes, I've asked her nicely to stop it, several times.. and sometimes she even says "I know Im not supposed to say this, but I could really go for a cozy night on the sofa with a *insert candy of choice*."

Same problem here, only he'll usually be eating (fill in the blank) in front of me and sweetly offer a bite by while holding it right under my nose, offering the logic that just one bite won't hurt, and "come on you've got to taste this, it's really, really good". I love him, but that man is the sugar devil.

haha, nono ... not any secrets here.
I'll fill in my bio soon enough.. just haven't really had the time.
Thanks all for your input, me and my wife have been together since we were 15 years old for 13 years this june, and I'm not thinking of divorcing her over some candy..
I'll just keep reminding her, sure she will get it eventually.

Hi Ice! Welcome to FS.
The summer between my junior and senior year in high school, my best friend went to Vestmannaeyjar as an AFS student for the summer.
She LOVED it. And it sounded beautiful to me. A couple of years later, she wanted to go back sooooo bad. I was going to go with her and we were going to work in the fish factory. Kids! ~grin~
Unfortunately, we weren't able to go through with the plan. But I'm happy to say that she has been able to go back, several times, and will be visiting again this summer. Hard to believe that AFS summer was 40 years ago.
I know it sounds kind of dumb when I've never been there myself, but Iceland holds a special place in my heart because my friend loved it so.
Good luck with your candy-enticing wife. Hopefully she will come to understand that it is a little bit of torture for you. Joyce

My boyfriend is the worst for this! I completely know how you feel! I have set a standard of words that are not allowed in my presence. LOL. He also has a habit of offering me bad foods because he doesn't want to eat alone. I have a strong enough mentality that I can not think about certain foods and try to silence the cravings but when someone offers you something or reminds you of certain foods my brain does a little light bulb thing along with a "DING" making me remember that I did want these foods!! NO FUN!! But try banning some words or things your wife says

I had a similar issue (with beer or chips rather than sweets though), where my husband would grab himself a beer and offer me one. It's hard to say no even if I wasn't originally thinking of one.
We finally solved the problem - I've asked him not to offer me any beers. If I want one, I will ask as he is getting one, or I will get it myself. But he no longer offers me one. It sounds a bit selfish/rude, but it helps a lot. Sometimes it is frustrating if he is making something I like and I forget to ask him to make me some, but it is worth it to prevent the unintentional munchies.
Maybe you can just ask your wife not to offer any foods to you as a way to support your health? Tell her that if you want some, you'll ask her to share or you'll get your own.

Hi,
I don't have a spouse or anyone ruining my diet efforts, but I can think of a few crazy suggestions. Maybe a fun game? Instead of (candy of choice), an animal that starts with the same letter. "I could really go for some Iguana (Ice cream), right now," or "Man, I really want a Sea horse (Snickers)." That way you get images of sea horses and iguanas...which may not be so tasty...

@Bodicea - My sister lives in Vestmannaeyjar, and I've gone a few times to visit her. The island is really nice and scenery spectacular, I've walked up the volcano twice, it takes about 30 minutes to an hour, and it's really fun to take some food along and bury it in the ground to heat it! and the view from the top is amazing on a clear day.
I would recommend to anyone to come here during the summer time and visit the turist locations, and due to our currency the 'Krona - ISK' having problems it's probably not that expensive! $1 = ~128 ISK.
Thank to all for the tips, I'll have another talk with my GF about supporting my diet

For Bodicea - here are some pictures from my visit 2007.
just started walking up.
This is the path.
First stop before getting to the top.
At the top, backside of volcano.
More of backside, lava when down there into the ocean.
The top, notice the mist on the ground ? .. it's hot!
There is my car and wife.. see if you can spot her!
Last pic, the ocean scenery.
Hope you like them and can see it for yourself one day.

~big grin~ @Ice - thank you!! Fabulous scenery - just as I remember her photos. Who knows - maybe I'll be lucky enough one day. Thanks again, Joyce
P.S. I could
not

Sensitive belly issue?
Try psyllium whole husks. You can get it at Vitamin Shoppe and probably most drug stores. Has 5 carbs but also 5 dietary fiber and mixes with 8 ounces water. It is dry so it keeps well. 12 oz only ...

jwill77nc2 is correct. Also, if there is NO asterisk (*) after the food or exercise then that number will not be counted in the Challenges and Contests and Mini Challenges this program offers.
