HELP!!!! I have my period and I'm having a major craving for chocolate. I have already gone for a walk to try and take my mind off of this urge but it didn't work. what do you ladies eat or do to help curb the urge to indulge?

I have eaten whipped chocolate yogurt in the past.
If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.-George W Patton

OMGosh! This was me end of last week and the start of this week. One word...FRUIT! When I eat enough fruit I usually do not have the cravings, but last week I had not eaten enough fruit all week and when I started I was in a frenzy to have chocolate. FRUIT it all week. Then go to your nearest farmers market like Sprouts etc and get some dark chocolate that is 85% and nibble on that over a weeks time. Good luck!

Since you are PMSing go get some 72% ghiradelli. the flavanoids will make you feel better and its actually very healthy. don't torture yourself, but you should only eat 2 squares, TOPS 4!
your best bet is to get a bar of it, not a bag.

Even if you did endulge, you would have to eat 3500 calories worth of it to even gain 1 pound.

Try cocoa covered Almonds the fat is from the almonds not from milk or pigs. Yes the candy bar is full of pig fat.

Mmmm... Bacon bar. Seriously, though, I'll sometimes let 5 or 6 chocolate chips melt in my mouth, and it feels like I've had a lot more chocolate than I have. Semisweet chocolate is a MUFA, like dark chocolate.

I experimented with coconut oil homemade chocolate fudge/candy yesterday. Coconut oil is supposed to be really good for you for weight loss, and organic raw cocoa powder is also supposed to be healthy. I used a tiny bit of raw honey in the recipe (which in my experiment did not really mix in and formed a soft but very yummy center in my candy). I plan to try to use stevia next time. Overall the result was satisfactory, though not something I would not be able to live without (keep in mind I do not like chocolate very much, and was making this concoction as a way to incorporate both raw cocoa and coconut oil into my diet). Try it, it is not calorie free but is supposed to be healthier than regular chocolate candy bar. I also added some vanilla powder to the recipe, and made just one candy out of a table sspoon of coconut oil, as I wanted to check if I liked it before making a bigger batch.
Edited - tried it with stevia, and like it it even better with stevia.
Coconut Oil Candy Recipe #2
Ingredients
· 1 cup coconut oil, melted
· 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
· 1/2 cup honey
Directions
· Pour the coconut oil into a bowl, and sift in the cocoa, stirring to
blend evenly.
· Stir in the honey, and mix until smooth.
· You can pour it into a glass dish (lightly coated with coconut oil) or
silicone mini muffin cups and refrigerate until hard.
· If using a glass dish, cut into one inch squares.
The recipe is from this site

Thank you all for the great idea's. When I start eating chocolate, I can't have just a little. It is my greatest weakness so best to steer clear of it completely.

Make a smoothie!! (I'm a serious smoothie pusher and the recipe below will seriously fill you up, you won't have room to binge...) Throw it all in a blender...
> Lite Silken Tofu or Fat Free Greek Yogurt
> big handful of frozen spinach or kale
> 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries or cherries
> 1 or 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder (I use Hershey's Special Dark, 100% Cacao Blend)
> Sweetener, if needed (I don't use it with the cherries, depends on how ripe the strawberries are. I usually go with Agave Nectar or Truvia)

Wow, I am a big smoothie fan. Spinach smoothie is my favorite, but I never thought to put cocoa powder in it. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Just a thought, "Fat-free" should not be part of the language for Atkins WOE. Go for the full fat Greek yogurt. It's tastier and helps control cravings in general because it curbs hunger. Oh, and I love Pig fat!! Yummy! I'm thinking of making some chocolate covered proscuitto--instead of bacon only because I find too much salt kills the sweetness, especially artificial sweetners, and proscuitto is not salt cured like bacon. Maybe I'll try making the coconut oil candy, with stevia instead of honey, spread it on the proscuitto and then roll it up for an appetizer.

there's a recipe for chocolate soda on the atkins website. all you need is sugar free chocolate syrup, a little heavy cream and some seltzer water and mix until the top is frothy foam. so so yummy and since it's creamy and chocolate-y it helps the craving without crashing your carb intake

Better to get used to having a bar and stopping instead of abstinence. This will only lead to binges. Good luck with your goals.
