OK, so here I sit...out of breath, out of options, and nearly out of my mind.

I have always had a larger circumference than that recommended by those with medical degrees; I had been somewhat capable at keeping the expansion of my girth to a crawl with minor decreases during the summer months.

In a related but separate effort to keep HMS Stacey on course; I had recently changed the antidepressant medications I had been on for the past 8-10 years. What hit me the hardest though was the impact this had on my appetite and weight gain.

In a cruel twist of reality, I learned that often this is the prominent side effect with these meds…which seems a tad unfair if you ask me. I swear to God that these meds were invented by underfed skinny demons, who laugh at the rest of us.

But I digress. I have hit an all time record on the scale this week…257 pounds. This would not present any issues at all if I was close to 7 feet tall, but at 5’8” this is indeed an issue that needs to be dealt with.

Up until today I have never really dieted…nothing in an organized manner. But today is the start of a new day and I really want to loose weight and be healthier. I am prepared (at least I think I am) to do what it takes to reach my goal of 200 lbs and in turn improve my odds in seeing any grandchildren that may be in my future.

Do I have a plan? Yes. I am going to log everything I eat and drink as well I will track the distances/times I ride my bicycle. I will ensure that I do not exceed the recommended daily intake that my ipad says I should follow if I want to loose weight safely and hopefully my cardio and glucose levels will imrove as time goes by.

I plan to continue my posts, if only they serve to help my self discipline and sense of accountability.

If you dear reader, find yourself in a similar reality as mine own, perhaps you can send your messages in a bottle to me as well.

Okay, so here goes day one….what? No drum roll in the background?

You can do it! There are many people in the same boat, so you're never alone in this. If you need advice, there is always someone roaming the forums who can give you a helping hand.

Good luck, and feel free to message if you need some encouragement. Smile

YOU CAN DO IT!!! It's hard to get started, but it feels so good to be on your way. I, myself, started at 261 and am now down to 219, 4 months later. Just keep reminding yourself that this is something that you WANT. It gets easier once your body figures out how good it feels to get exercise and to eat in moderation, and eat VEGETABLES! Smile Good luck and good skill. This website is an amazing resource. Feel free to use it to stay accountable to yourself!

Thank S.M.Y and Beatrixie! I was surprised to learn people might actually read my posts. I am outgoing and love to write with humour (or for my future buddies from the US: humor) to help cope with the dung life sends our way from time to time...to time...
I will continue post and joke the pounds away. After all it worked for Orson Wells...er...okay so perhaps jokes only work if that's all that is on my plate.
Thanks again!
