Hi there! My name's Amanda, and as this forum is named as well as this post, I'm new to this site.

I've been overweight all of my life, and I really am fed up with it. I'm 19 years old, 168lbs at 5'4.

I'm starting off on the grapefruit diet, along with some pretty hefty 6am workouts 5 times a week.

Any tips/tricks/advice/suggestions in general to maximize my weightloss is appreciated Smile

I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I've been told I'm a great support system - so don't be afraid to utilize me if you need someone to stand behind you!

Cool

Hi Amanda!

I don't know much of anything about this Grapefruit Diet, but I did a little bit of internet searching about it.. I'd advise that you read this article:
WebMD: Grapefruit Diet

It sounds like a fad diet that might help you drop some pounds right away, but probably isn't the best way to have sustainable weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. Personally, I think if you just hit your workouts hard (which it sounds like you are) and watch your calories, you should see some good results!!

The thing that has helped me the most is committing to recording EVERYTHING that I eat/drink and staying active on this site. It has kept me accountable and on-track - don't know if I could have done it without this!!

Someone who is busier than you is working out right now.
There will come a day when you can no longer do this. Today is not that day.

AnaOM: You betcha! If you need extra support, I'm here for ya.

Erika2633: I rethought the grapefruit diet after reading that(also, it doesn't taste too good to eat for an extended period of time..). Thanks for your input! I'll definitely be hittin' the gym hard.
Also, I'm definitely going to record as much as I humanly can(as long as I don't forget). I'll be downloading the app next week once I get my new phone, so it'll make it easier!

Thank you, again!

Amanda - the app is amazing and it will help you SO much to record everything!! Glad you rethought the grapefruit.. Smile I'm convinced that tracking your calories with a reasonable RDI and exercising will be enough!!

So glad to have you in the FS group. I have been overweight my whole life as well. I have been using FS for almost two months and I LOVE it. The app makes it so easy to track your calories and your exercise. I am not doing a specific diet I am just limiting calories and making better food choices and it is helping. There are so many amazing people on here that are so supportive and encouraging.
Hope you have a great day!
