Personally I've never tried P90X, but I did work with a guy who had a lot of success using it. Make sure you take before/after pictures, and keep us updated!

Good decision but you should include squats also for 10-15 mins. This will help you to build your bogy and even lose weight also. Adding squats to the exercise have many other benefits also.
