I know! I've had my fingers crossed that she's just having fun in Vegas and not hospitalized with a terrible cookie-waxing trauma.

OK!!! I have an update for you!!! Sorry for the delay, I definitely was having the time of my life in Vegas!! That city is too much fun for its own good! Here is my experience:

Thursday 24th of April.
My appointment is in an hour, I decide to take a Vicodin before going in there. Thirty minutes later I start to feel it kick in and decide I better get my butt on the road before I am too loopy to drive. I walk in and tell them my name and I wait a few minutes before being called into the room. The lady was named Merri and she was absolutely hilarious. Which was good because I was pretty nervous at this point. She had me remove my pants and underwear and lay down. I was definitely feeling like things were going to be just fine. I feel her smear some wax on the top part of my cookie and there is a slight uncomfortableness because the hair was long and was pulling. Then she slapped a strip on and then next thing I knew I was like "HOLY HELL!" Merri was attempting to keep my mind busy by attempting to hold a conversation with me, but shoot, it was an intense pain. I immediately felt my body start to sweat and Merri put powder all over me to absorb the wetness. After the second strip, I told her a needed a break and that I wasn't sure if I could continue. She told me that it was okay if I wanted to stop, but that the part she just did was the most painful(she still had the landing strip to do) and that I should let her do the bikini line and the lower half of my cookie to see if that was more tolerable...And let me tell you, It was!!!! After my endorphins started to kick in, the rest was easier. Merri continued to pluck some areas which took some getting use to. It was slightly odd when she would hold my leg out to get a better angle or when she had me raise my legs up and back to get the goods below my cookie. However I would say that by the end, (the landing strip) it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Merri was very quick and finished within about 30 minutes.

Problems/Complications/Tips

1. I did not wait the full three weeks I should have so not all of the hair was long enough to be waxed...most of it came off, but it was not able to be that perfectly smooth feeling I was hoping for. Vegas really screwed up my time table.

2. I did take vicodin, but I am not sure if it really helped with the pain, Merri said that she could tell that it did because I wasn't tensed up.

3. Vicodin is a heavy drug that usually makes me feel sick, I can usually only take a half, I took a whole one then. During the procedure I didn't even feel like I was on i, but as soon as I was walking to my car and all the nerves were calmed, the vicodin feeling hit me again, not only was I sick, but felt like I was floating. Go figure.

4. Merri told me to go get a tube of hydrocortisone which I picked up on the way home and apply it every time my skin had absorbed the last application. It really did a great job of preventing redness, bumps, ingrown hairs and everything else I was worried about. I highly recommend this!

My waxer is very experienced and explained that the hair growns in three cycles so it will take about three times to get everything on the same page. After the whole thing was said and done though, I will never go back to shaving! Yes it was painful, and for a second there I didn't think I was going to finish, but it is doable. My boyfriend even said he liked the hairy cookie when it was all grown out...GO FIGURE!! Just as I was going to get waxed he told me he was going to miss it. I guess that will be a nice change for the weeks I have to grow it out. Smile

But ladies if you have been following my thread and are curious about it, grow out the hair for at least three weeks and then have it done! Just being in the shower and not having to hassle with shaving there is really exciting. You can get through it, if you find a reputable person, you will not have a bad experience. I am a waxer from here on out!

If you are in the SF area and would like my waxers number, please feel free to message me and I will give you her number. She is great!

Ive been waxed, sugared, shaved, nair, tweezed...UGH they all SUCK! I get bumps and ingrowns EVERY TIME- never mind the fact that it hurts like H@#$%! SO I paid the 1500 bucks and got lazor hair removal. I went for 6 treatments, and I am hair free- for EVER from belly button to my toes! BEST THING EVER!

It has been almost 4 weeks since my wax and let me tell you that I can't believe how much hair didn't grow back. Last time I went, not all of the hair was taken off because some of it was shorter. That has grown out now, but even the hair that was waxed is growing in soft and fine. I can't wait to go back for my second wax! I want all the hair gone again. I will go around my 5th week. How long does everyone else wait in between waxes and has anyone else decided to take the waxing plunge after following this thread??

Okay I just went for my second one and wow!! let me tell you that it was nothing like the first one. This time I barely felt anything. I couldn't even believe it when she said I was all finished!! If you are still contemplating getting it done, go for it! This has been one of my best decisions I have ever made!

Wow this was a true reading journey! GREAT Story!! I have friends who wax them selves, and i've had two waxing sessions myself. I almost throw the Lady waxing me across the room form he pain the first time i got it done, lol we laughed and i cried! the second time was the same as the first to me, just now i understood what was about to happen and i was all sweaty when i walked in the salon from anxiety. I dont have issues with bumps from shaving,(i used "skin tight" when i was younger for about 2mths and i havent seen a hair bumps since, I always tell others with hair bump issues to give it a try) i just wanted the hair gone for a longer period of time, so i tried waxing. I really enjoyed the feel and look of the wax job but the pain keeps me way. So i just shave every 2 days... Thank you for Sharing!!

Nice and informative story. I think I'M NOT DOING IT lol. I would like to have the laser removal though. I just can't afford it. I hate shaving but I did find out which directions to shave that I don't get all the bumps etc. Wow to think I could get the hair to be gone forever! I would love that. I have sat through many hours of tattoos and that doesn't tickle, but my cookie Oh H*** NO!! I guess I'm a wuss. But I'm fine with that haha.

I am so happy to have all of your join my journey on my waxing experience. It has been quite the ride. Sorry I have been gone for so long. Life kinda took over. I just wanted to check back in and leave it open for anyone else who wanted to share their stories. I would love to hear from some of the women who did it after reading this thread.

I am A licensed esthetician ,and there isn't alot to do to minimize pain ,it is all in who is doing it and if it is done correctly ,having your hair ant the min. length of a quarter inch does make for less pain ,and make sure they apply a small amount of oil to the area prior to application ,this greatly decreases pain as it helps put a barrier between the wax and the skin itself. Also the best wax for this is hard wax ,it is used for sensitive areas and doesn't require strips ,it adhears to the hair only....hope it goes well Happy waxing

I've been getting waxed for years; once you've waxed you don't go back! And the more you do it the less it hurts. Ladies, take our advice, DO IT! It is so worth it! Once your done and the pain is over you'll see Wink

My husband had never been with anyone who waxed before he met me. To him he figured it was the same thing as a shaved one, but he now knows the difference is HUGE!

One day I'd like to get laser too and be rid of the hassle once and for all.
