I got the same thing a lot, and felt like I had a poochy belly even though I was thin, I know where you're coming from. ab exercises and a bit of muscle really flattened my belly out more than dieting ever did, and drinking a lot of water helps too.

@klbarcaskey what kind of ab exercises did you do? I do mostly crunches that I found on cosmo for toned abs

<I love this one as an all around, I could not finish two sets for quite a few tries though.

<I like this one too, combined with leg lifts, where you lay on your back and place your hands under your hips, and lift your legs to a 90 degree angle.

<This is by and far the best though!

I don't believe that is a question you need to ask. This site is designed for support, not judgement. Just because she weighs or wants to weigh 119 lbs, doesn't mean that she has issues with her weight.
Sure a lot of people would love to weigh 119 lbs, but alot of people would love to weigh 153 (my current weight). I personally am not happy with that weight though. We all have our own vision of what we would like to look like physically and unless she is harming herself to get there or wants to weigh something unreasonable, our job on here is to support her in anyway that we can.
If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.-George W Patton

@apatrick1 thank you for supporting me
@snowflake2217: I didn't compel you to share your thoughts and even if you did, there's a decorum that every member on fatsecret maintains. As to your previous question, I want to weigh less than 119 lbs regardless who would or would not kill to be at 119 lbs.
P.S. I referred it with my physician and he thinks its okay for me to change my goal weight to 110 lbs.

FMZ ~ Motivation is the kicker for sure. I have a lovely app on my phone that gives me an alarm bell in the morning to remind me to get my butt up and workout. I use Workout Trainer by Skimble. It's free and has tons of different workouts to pin point different parts of your body and different levels of difficulty. My favorite part is it shows you how many minutes the workout is, so if I'm late for work I can pick a 10 minute one.
good luck!!!

Hey fmz93,
I had a similar goal in mind, I wanted to go down to 110 lbs from 115 lbs and I chose a balance of exercise and a healthy (for me at least) diet. I don’t know if this is a possibility for you, but I started performing INSANITY and eating 1500-1600 calories a day and by the end of the program I surpassed my goal of 110 and decided to change it to 101 and perform INSANITY again, just to challenge myself.
Once I reached my new goal I realized I was skinny, but I wanted to be toned and gain some muscles, so I’m performing ChaLEAN and eating 1450-1550 calories a day. I feel healthy at the weight I am now, so don’t let other people tell you what you should weigh. It’s different for everyone.

For anyones weight loss as long as it is done in a healthy manner, and it does not become an uncontrollable obsession which I believe can lead to eating disorders then it is all good.
Knowing what is best for you, and recognizing when you are becoming too thin or sickly looking and need to stop is a huge key factor.
So eat healthy, exercise and look after yourself physically and emotionally.
That's my scpewl for the day...

Here's my suggestions:
drink more water. (64 oz minimum)
dont eat breads, pasta's and sugars.
try this for 2 weeks and see what happens. Most people have some weight gain and bloating from breads etc.
Take vitamins, a multi, calcium.
80% food 20% exercise is the solution to everything! (almost)
Fat is
HARD
....Fit is
HARD
...Which
HARD
do you choose???

A wise man once told me "Its 80% what you eat, and 20% what you do".
I believe it now. I tried the other way, I really did. Fried chicken + jogging = still fat.
Then you simply did not count calories. Fried chicken does not ignore the law of thermodynamics.

I think it's just a lack of understanding. People base their standards off of themselves and the people in their life. Most obese people are raised by people who are overweight and studies show people who are obese usually have obese friends. The size of their meals would seem outrageous to us, and the way we eat would seem meager to them. I remember reading a study that said that most people who are in the overweight category consider themselves normal, and most people in the obese category just consider themselves overweight. People consider what they are doing normal and if you are close minded it is easy to consider someone who does things differently than you as doing things wrong. We are very similar in size, I am 5'9 and to be between 125 and 130 is definitely at the low end of my healthy weight, but still in the healthy weight category, yet if i say i am watching what i eat and turn down junk food people will sometimes be judgemental, I think mainly because to them that seems weird because they dont have that mentality. The "you dont need to diet, you are already thin" thing baffles me the most.... I always wonder how they think one stays thin, its by aproaching the problem when it is small, not waiting until you have gained fifty pounds. Wanting to be a hundred pounds for someone who isn't petite might put them into the underweight category, but thin people have body image issues too, and for someone who hasn't been there it is easy to be critical.
Great incite! I love this post.

Going back to the original question, I agree with Jess... and you should first make sure that your goal is reasonable and within a healthy range. BMI is a rough measure but can give some indication, a better way would be to get your body fat measured. For a girl 20% should be the goal for a healthy level 15% the absolute minimum (for men is about 5-6% lower).
Once you have done that if in fact you need to loose fat just create a calorie deficit by calculating your calorie needs (using the online calculators and then fine tuning it based on your experience) and logging all the foods you choose to eat. You can eat anything you want as long as the calories are less than what you burn. Some people prefer to cut carbs, some others to just eat anything by watching portions and trying to eat sensibly nutritious foods rich in fibers (including carbs), that is only a matter of personal preference there are many ways of achieving the same goal.
You might want to create deficit just through more exercise particularly resistance ones, especially if your body fat is already low as it seems from your weight and what you need is more likely just more toned muscles
Amen. Great post!
