Hi there. Has anybody got some real tasty breakfast ideas? I usally stick to weetabix,yoguhrt & some sort of fruit, but I am looking for an alternative that would keep me equally full. I have porridge sometimes, but that is a bit difficult to prepare in the office as the cooking facilities are very limited. I seem to rack up 400-500 kcal very easily. So low cal, easy on the go recipes are appreciated Smile Thanks

special k is great, they do all kinds of different flavours now too. the honey and nut cluster one of special k is delicious

I typically have a half cup of oatmeal which I can easily microwave at work. For additional protein I add three tablespoons of hemp hearts and a cup of berries, usually raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. I used to add a tablespoon of maple syrup but have been able to break the habit. If I am really hungry, I will add a hard boiled egg or two. That's 437 calories total if you add two eggs.

SCRAMBLES! Some Egg beaters, eggs or whites with fat free ham and veggies is a great protein packed meal. It's not my first choice of a way to cook it but I bring it to work and pop it in the microwave scrapping and stiring every minute for he first 2 and then every 30 seconds until done. Sprinkle some cheese on to melt and you're good to go. You can do it at home and reheat as well. All depends on what I have time for Smile. And remember you can eat non-traditional breakfast foods too, whatever sounds yummy! I keep hard boiled eggs on hand most of the time. greek yogurt with berries isn't huge protein packed but good too.

I make a 3 egg white, 1 whole egg omelet and stuff it with sauteed mushrooms, green onions and peppers. The whole thing is well under 200 calories (17 cal per large egg white and 72 for one large egg= 123 plus a few calories for the veggies and a bit more if you use some oil to sautee them). It tastes great and is packed with protein to keep you full for a long time.

IT NEVER GETS EASIER - YOU JUST GET BETTER.

I usually have 1 protein (greek yogurt, cottage cheese, an egg or turkey sausage patty), 1 starch (whole-grain bread, english muffin, oatmeal) and 1 whole fruit (I can eat a TON of berries for half of the calories of a cup of juice) for breakfast and keep it under 300-350 calories for breakfast. I know this is weird, but here's another idea: I like snacking on sugary cereal (Cinnamon Toast Crunch, for example) in the afternoon or after dinner if I'm craving something really sweet like cookies, because it satisfies my sweet tooth for less than 150 calories.

Lately I've been whipping up some eggs and a meat such as sausage, bacon, spam, hot link, whatever. Satisfies me until my mid-morning snack. If I don't have time to whip anything up, I'll have a protein shake.

Stay the course, stay on point, stay motivated, dedicated, and you won't be stopped. Discipline. Perseverance. Focus. Dig deep and you will be victorious.

My take: Lay off the grains completely and get your carbs from fruits and veggies. There is a good reason for this, less sugar spike to make you hungry again, and many more nutrients per calorie. My favorite breakfast these days: apple and/or broccoli, fat-free greek yogurt with berries, 2 omega-3 rich eggs (can hard boil if you want them on the go) and raw organic baby spinach. I usually separate the yogurt and eggs by a couple hours (TWO breakfasts if you like) with some exercise in between. Total calories 300-400, full of nutrients and keeps you full till lunch and most importantly feeds that metabolism.

I found a site on pinterest that had a bunch of oatmeal recipes. I wanted to find a way to eat oatmeal that I liked, since it is supposed to be good for you and help you lose weight. So...I finally found a great recipe. Cook 1/2 cup of oatmeal in 1 cup of water (about 2 min in the microwave). Add 1 Tablespoon of cocoa powder, 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter, and splenda, equal, or whatever sweetener you want. It's good warm, but cold it tastes almost just like a no bake cookie. I can only eat half of the full serving, which is just under 130 calories.
Goal 1: 190-Reached 9/26/12!

Goal 4: 130
