i am going on my 4th week of atkins and I hav only lost 8 pounds and even though i am following the diet to a T it seems to be going really slow. I have only dropped 2 inches, 1 in my hips and 1 in my waist. i see where others have lost so much more and I realize I can not compare but I just feel like I should be doing better than this.Hopefuly next week will be better.

Thats 2 pounds a week! you should be proud of yourself for that! Dont compare to what other people are doing, compare yourself to what YOU are doing week to week. Any loss is better than no loss and You are doing great!

2 lbs. a week is a very good and healthy amount of weight loss. losing any faster than that may increase your chances of putting it back on again or eventually overeating from starvation. Keep up the good work!

I have been dieting for 34 yrs...one thing I can tell you for sure is that the faster you lose the weight, the faster you will gain it back. It also requires some pretty dramatic eating changes and starvation to lose weight really quickly. You will lose a lot of muscle and when you gain it back it will be pure fat. It's not worth it!!! I have destroyed my metabolism and now at 49, it's nearly impossible to lose anything. Please-Please-Please don't get discouraged. Focus on eating in a way that you can live with long term and let the weight loss happen in it's own time. Remember, no matter what the scale says, if you are eating right, you are a little healthier today than you were yesterday! That's a great thing! Have a wonderful day Smile

BMI
According to my BMI I should weigh 115-154. I only use it to estimate what weight range I should head for, although I know it's not always an accurate indicator.

Is Quitting An Option???
One of the biggest thing I had to learn was not to quit after 1 slip up. Usually the guilt got the best of me, but I handle it a lot better now.
