I have pre-diabetes and have been trying to control my blood glucose through diet. There's a "Diabetes Daily" forum where there's lots of help for all sorts of issues.

http://www.diabetesdaily.com/forum

Someone there recommended the Atkins Diet or The Paleo Diet - both of which recommend almost no carbohydrates except from non-root vegetables. I've been doing Atkins and the numbers have been pretty good. There's also an Atkins site where there is an explanation of what to do and how, in easy to read sections, plus a forum where people support each other.

Look under www.atkins.com

That way of eating most definitely helps with weight loss and has built in advice as to how to find your suitable level of adding back small amounts of carbs as your body gets used to the regimen.

I sincerely recommend both sites.
