Can anyone recommend an accurate calorie counting device that does not require me to go online to view my results?

FatSecret has an app for smart phones.. it syncs with the website (convenient). If you need a tracker that doesn't require internet, they have hand held models.. Check out CalPal digital calorie counter or Calorie Smart hand held tracker.

Happy Shopping!

Thank you, jenniloo. I was thinking more along the lines of a watch or something that tells me how many calories I am burning throughout the day. I'm just not sure how accurate those would be?

I have a bodymedia fit and love it. I've had it just over a year now and feel that it was well worth the expense. I got it at costco.com even though I don't have a membership. I got a good deal that included one year free subscription. Now I pay $7/month. It does require subscription to view full detailed caloric information, however, you can buy a display unit that will tell you the calories burned and steps taken. You can even use the 'trip" function, kind of like your odometer in your car - and it allows you to see how many calories you burn doing a specific exercise, like zumba. The display unit is pricey (I think $70), but you don't have to be connected to the internet or pay the monthly fee if you just use that.

Since I have had mine for awhile, I kind of know what the results will be, but it does keep me 100% motivated. It makes me want to move more and basically lets me know when I am slacking. I attribute 70% of my weight loss to this device and about 20% to fat secret for being able to log my meal intake, the rest is just plain old motivation and will.

I have about 20 lbs to go, but will probably continue using this device for 6 months- 1 year after just to keep me on track, then I plan to wear occasionally and just use the display unit and not pay the monthly fee.

Hi, NCNOLE! I saw your post on another thread today where you mentioned the Bodymedia Fit device and I Googled it. Sounds like something I may be interested in. Thank you for sharing that.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
You can use shakes for a few days. I have used the Atkins shakes and they are very good tasting. Soups are good though as stated above you may have to puree them. You could puree or blend cottage cheese ...
