Does anyone else have this problem? I lost 30 pounds last summer from june through august. It has been a struggle from Sept-now to lose more weight. I have lost a total of 48 pounds, fluctuating between 48-50. I have noticed this in my past too. Does anyone have this happen, and what do you do?

Yup! I tried counting calories and took some off, but it quickly came back over the holidays. However, NOW is different. . I still use fat secret to track my weight loss. I am so excited. I have only 7 pounds to go before I hit my 100 pounds lost! Yup! I started out at 363 and this morning was 270.8. I still have another 100 to go, but I have lost 5 pant sizes already. This weight loss plan is the easiest thing I have ever done (healthy too!) Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey. I'm on face book cindyspence@roadrunner.com Happy weight loss,

ritter - I think anyone who is a professional dieter has done this. Over and over again. For me, each time, it would be to find something that I hadn't been doing before, and add it to the list of things I continue to do (e.g. if it's not eating breakfast, do it...next time, if not tracking food - add both doing breakfast and tracking food to your "accomplishment" list - next - track exercise, add it. Next more seasonal veggies/fruit rather than from cans...then - get your water in...) I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well - but make small changes and build on them.

@Muffin - congrats!! You're going to do it - I know it!

Luck and good planning to all - Joyce

I hit a massive plateau last year, September to December after losing a 140 pounds the previous 8 months to that, I then only went on to lose around 10 ish pounds during this 4 month plateau.

In January I jigged my diet after identify some possible issues within it (to much fruit and not enough protein basically) and I added a more strict exercise routine and have gone on this year to date to lose another 56 pounds.

I think every serious long term dieter hits a plateau at some time and they can be soul destroying! I don't think it's necessarily related to the seasons unless you were to live somewhere where the season changes were so extreme that they were to effect your activity level and food availability, like Inuit's for example.

I have found that I gain during the winter months. I finally figured out that my activity level decreases drastically during that time period so even though my eating habits don't change, the lower level of activity leads to gains. I am not out and about as much, the kids play less sports in winter so I am not walking around the fields. I hate being cold so I park closer to stores or just stay home. This winter I plan to use my bodybugg to keep me on track with my calorie burn.

I think we are all doing great on here. I started originally at 477 pounds in 2004, and now I am at 346. I know I have a way to go but I am not where I used to be! Upping the activity level and water!!!!

Swollen ankles???
I have them too, and for me it is because of food intolerance. I can accidentally eat small amount of food I do not tolerate, and they will remain swollen for a few weeks.
