I just got my first shipment yesterday and am starting my Medifast plan today. I'm very excited but don't see too many recent posts about this diet. Anyone else new or have any tips for me. I would love some buddies too

Thanks everyone! I've been on this site for some time now with other diets and I love how supportive everyone is.
Cindy in Ks: Haha yeh that won't do. If you go to My Fatsecret, on the left side of the screen there's a box My Toolbox and a link My Image. You can change it there.

Just had my first shake. I mixed it in my morning coffee, it wasn't too bad.

Anna & I are doing this together! Hopefully we can be an awesome team and really drop some lbs. I'm glad to see that we found a forum with people following the same diet, and it is current.

Ana and Rob... Good luck!
My husband and I started out doing medifast together...l it definitely helped having the other adult in the house on the same plan... We were all on the same page when it ca,e to shopping and what NOT to put in our house.
Then he passed out one morning and after many tests, the doctor said, "This is something I never thought I would say... But you can't be on medifast." apparently my hubs has a very sensitive metabolism and medifast makes it goe into overdrive.
Of course now there is all kinds of fruit in our house and Special K products... Which I love!
Be strong TOGETHER!

Hi I am new to Medifast and I am super disappointed. I went Medifast because my dr recommended the diet. I lost 5 pounds the first and 0 the second. What is frustrating to me is that the food is processed and really bad. The calorie level they have me on is so low that I can't spin. In addition, I paid close to $ 800 plus food by walking into the center. I later find out that I could of just gone direct and avoided the 800 !fee. Two more weeks for me and I am tossing this thing and taking a loss and moving on to something a bit mor balanced like ww.

Many people, myself included, on this web site have had great success just in finding the calorie range that allows them to lose weight and sticking to it. It costs nothing and you can eat the food that you like. Recording all of your food in the diet calendar teaches you about portion size and good food choices, ones that fill you up but aren't too high in calories. Losing the weight is one thing but keeping it off is another challenge. By recording all of your food it teaches you what a proper diet is for you long term. This is not something you can just do for the next few months or year but forever.

Great job on your weight loss. I agree that recording every morsel you eat helps you to have personal accountability and usually you arent as "bad" as you think you are and you can budget in a treat and stay within your weight loss goals. Keep up the good work!

Oops! I just realized that I started a new topic, but didn't mean to dot that. I'm still finding my way around.
One day we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny.

To chrispine, everyone needs to find what works for them. I paid the freight at a Medifast center, but I need to go in each week and be accountable and talk. Some folks don't need that. Some people can't give up real food. As far as how it tastes, you might find some things you prefer to others and it will be manageable. Or maybe not, and that's okay, too. As to the cost, if you pay $11-15/per visit to WW and whatever food you will prepare for yourself, you might find that you've spent that much or more. But if it works for you, $$ doesn't matter.
For me, I don't have a problem losing weight -- I've lost and found hundreds of pounds -- but can't keep it off. The struggle will be to transition and maintain on medifast, and I NEED human help. I considered do it online, but knew that wouldn't work for me. Whatever floats your boat. I think we're all here to support each other. You'll find what works.

Hellow everyone. I just started Medifast after seeing some ladies in my neighborhood have great success with it. Any suggestions for a newbie?

Can you do yogurt? A friend recommended to me plain yogurt with splenda mixed in. Maybe try that with some berries. I've been putting frozen raspberries in my protein shake.
