I'm looking for a good recipe for a low-carb, spicy, tomato-based barbecue sauce that does not use a ton of artificial sweetener to remove the carbs. All this does is make a sweet barbecue sauce with all that phoney stuff in it. What I want is a sauce that gets rid of the carbs by reducing the sweetness. Any ideas?

I know that the atkins site has a recipe for a lower carb bbq sauce, never tried it but you might give it a shot. I think that most sauces are just too high in sugar/carbs for me so I result in adding a small amount of the sauce (be is A1, heinz 57, ketchup, whatever) to real mayo, it keeps the favor but decreases carbs.

Not low-carb, but reduced carb, try stretching "real" bbq sauce with equal amounts of tomato sauce and cooking back down to the right consistancy.
I stretch out gravy with tomatoes so maybe it would work with the bbq. Maybe I'll try that myself soon!
